PS3 vs XBOX 360 - Two Years Later Hi guys, I have posted my third article in my series of annual comparisons between the two big consoles. PS3 vs XBOX 360 - Two Years Later. As always, my goal is NOT to tell which one is "better" but to point out the differences between the two. Check it out! |
"Soul Calibur IV - The 360 version runs in a 960p frame buffer, but Namco-Bandai decided to downsample the 360’s resolution down to 720p to smooth the image rather that utilize AA" Is that a mistake? did you mean to say PS3 for one of those? maybe I just read it wrong |

I think most of the cross platformers are similar, with 360 having the edge over PS3 because of the MUCH better development support from MS. |

Good article |
what does it mean that the xbox has "free" AA? |
^360 development can utilize AA very easily something like that |

I have all 3 as well, and for 2008 I turned the wii on only twice: once for testing the new TV, and one for Wii Fit during X'mas holiday. I know Wii is not about graphics but controls, but the Wii games are so GAW aweful and the graphic just hurts your eyes when you are used to CoD4 on 360. |
only game on wii i like is mario kart, everything else blows imo |

buy all 3, problem solved :D |
after owning a 360 since christmas, i can honestly say it's far and above both the Wii and PS3 in online gameplay [ i also own all 3 systems] never have i had so much fun playing a FPS online then playing COD5 with friends through XBL since early CS days |
This is a good article. I agree with pretty much everything in it. I had a problem with the very first article you've written and thought that comparing a 1 year old product to something that's been out twice as long didn't make much sense (still doesn't and I stand by it), but now that it's been 2 years (and 3 for the XBox, respectively) and both systems have matured enough to a point where a comparison is indeed more valid, and can be put side-by-side for a fair judgment. Sony still has more work to do and I think at this point they've given up on trying to re-gain the no.1 spot from MS, hence the no-price-cut-for-xmas strategy this past holiday season that didn't do much to help them sell more units. At this point I think they're just trying to stay profitable and not lose money by cutting price too quickly. In their minds they still see a $200 console + a $200 BD player (comparable to other BD players with similar specs) and thus decided that it is still a great deal for the consumers. The MAJOR pro for the PS3 at this point is still Blu-ray playback, but that will diminish as we see more and more sub $150 BD players on the market. There are lots of AAA titles coming this year and I hope Sony will play the cards right to at least be profitable in this industry (which they are, thanks to the immortal and undying PS2 lol), so that more great games can come out of the 1st party devs. I have only 4 games but over 50+ Blu-movies... so for me the PS3 has been a great choice in terms of an entertainment unit. Other hardcore gamers may prefer the XBox better for pure gaming purposes. Like someone said above... buy both and there won't even be an issue of what's better. lol I'm not even going to mention the Wii because it's in its own league and have a totally different market than these two. Still don't get what the fuzz is about the Wii - got one when it launched and sold it a month later - it was just too gimmicky and didn't do much outside of making you move your arms and body unnecessarily for no reason whatsoever. |

if only they made the harddrives bigger |
Great article. I did not know that the 360 had a superior GPU. |
