AutoX! Any thing soon?

I want to start auto-xing.

Are there any venues opening up in the spring? if so can you link a rules page?

With luck, Pitt Nowhere airport will be open for a few events this year. Stay tuned.

^ thanks hopefully it wil be
any other clubs other than vcmc?

Rich Sandor 01-28-2009 06:20 PM

This year will be a trying year for autocross. At the moment there is nothing going on beyond the few events that city council has promised to let us have - which will likely be hosted jointly between all of the clubs in may/june/july/aug/sept.

We will continue to endeavor for as many events as we had last year, however that will be an ongoing process. If and when we need public help, we will ask for it.

Until then, please be patient. It's a delicate process.

I would HIGHLY suggest getting involved with some track days with PDC, in the meanwhile. The requirements are the same as autocross, except the speeds and entry cost a bit more - but so is the value.

Let me know if you want to get involved, I'll set you up.

^ that sounds good to me

but what does PDC stand for?

i'm getting coilovers and my big brakes on sometimes this spring so i'll be looking forward to test out the whip on the track :D

i want to hit up as many events as possible while i still have an interest for it.

Highly recommended.

Also lots of other organisations that book track days at mission besides PDC. I will probably be booking an advanced track day later this year for me and my friends at ~ $300 each for ~22 cars.

Thanks Rich, i'll take a look at the site. but for myself $300 is too steep for me.

Officially, owners took the land back to build on. They wanted a bigger airport to compete with Abbotsford when the olympics come.

BTW, there is an update about the autoX out in Pitt Meadows.

EuroTRASH 02-03-2009 03:16 PM

what's the update?

Rich Sandor 02-03-2009 09:59 PM

We have 3 "trail" events booked for March, to prove to our neighbours that we can have "quieter" events.

These 3 events will NOT be open to first timers, and will be pre-registration only, capped to 50 cars.

If they go well, then we will have more events in the future. If they don't, we are screwed.

Details are on the vcmc, ubcscc, and pca-cwr forums.

As Rich said, there is going to be 3 trial events in March. Depending on how these 3 events go, future events will be discussed afterwards.

Right now, these are the issues.

(3) drivers not stopping at the intersection of Ford Road and the driveway to the pad on exiting the pad
(4) the P.A. system - specifically loud rock music, and secondarily the announcements
(5) after-hours noise at set-up or take-down, particularly evenings and early mornings

The clubs are committed to addressing all of these concerns to the satisfaction of the neighbours within reason, so the March events are critical to this. Every participant should know these issues and be aware of neighbour sensitivity to them. The clubs will be monitoring (and if necessary correcting) participant behaviour due to the agreement the clubs have with the City and the neighbours.

VCMC's Trial Event #1 went well this weekened.

UBC is running Event #2 and it is already fully booked.

I will advise further when concrete dates are set for autocross events that will be open to everyone.
