UnderCover cops SUV hit my car, need advice...

Time : Jan 17,2009 11:05pm

Locaion: A small parking lot outside London Drugs and Rogers Video; 41st @ Victoria , Vancouver

I went to buy some pizza take-away at 41st @ Victoria while my friend waited in my car . An undercover FORD Expedition SUV parked next to my car and the cop slammed my car while opening the door. My friend called me up and I rushed out to check the damage. By the time I got to my car, the officer was gone, I could see the damage on the SUV's door, but since it was dark at the parking lot, I couldn't spot the damage on my car.

I am sure it was an Undercover SUV because of the equipment in the cabin and the insurance expiry date on the rear Number plate.

I would like to ask, if the damage was much more serious than this time, what could I do? Confronting the officer? calling some hotline? Calling ICBC?

P.S.: There were also 4 more police Cars patrolling that parking lot.

Why didn't you just confront the officer that hit your car? or wait till the guy came back and say that he hit your car...?

If there's actual damage to your car, and you got the SUV's plate, why wouldn't you just report it as any other hit-and-run?

Why didnt you go to one of the other police cars in the lot and explain what just happened

Report it like you would report any other vehicle hitting yours. If you have this situation in the future just speak with the officer while you are still at the scene.

I would probably report it to an officer at the scene. Nothing would be different if it were a cop or a civilian that did a hit and run.

Exactly. It's the same situation regardless of who hits you.

yea, on the road or a parking lot you treat cops like you would treat any other person... your not doing anything wrong.
