Only places that dont jack up the prices for Valentines day are fastfood type places. As far as I have seen all mid-high class places charge insane prices for somthing as basic as steak and prawns...I guess they figure that people will pay it thou. For me I am going to go to the market buy a bottle of wine, 2 nice ribeyes and fresh veggies, grill em up, and serve me and my gf for half the price. Plus, chicks like it when you cook for them !!

going out with a friend/date tomorrow. Anywhere else that's pretty decent but doesn't have crazy jacked up prices? I mean even some special noodle house is fine with me too. Don't want to spend a fortune anyway (single or not) Looking for under $20/ person

Shiet, I made reservations for the boathouse and this lady called me to confirm. I asked her how much the V-day menu was, $50buxsssss/person. *Sigh*

Change of plans. Lady friend felt that Hon's was too posh so we're going to go to Oscar's on Rupert & E.22nd for some baked seafood rice and a lemon iced tea to share. :)

did anyone go to joe fortes? I was pretty surprised (and disappointed) when the waiter showed up with only one plate of dessert for the two of us......
anyone have the same experience or did I get gipped?

hongy 02-14-2009 11:46 PM

^^ well it is valentines day, maybe they assumed you two would share?

LanEvoMR 02-14-2009 11:51 PM

ya I guess, but when the menu says "3 courses", i expect each person to be getting three courses, none of this sharing business

Brought my gf to Pearl Castle for Valentine's dinner and she was happy to eat there. We had a great time and had the bbt there for dessert which was good.

So how were all your Valentine's Day dining experiences?

bcrdukes 02-15-2009 11:56 AM

Well, I caved in and instead of Oscar's I took my lady friend to Maruwa Sushi in Richmond as recommended by kanachan in the sushi thread. Place was small, packed, but the food was excellent and the portions were just right. Best part - my lady friend paid. :D

ChaKo 02-15-2009 04:38 PM

^the serving came with 3 different deserts. well, two and a half, but i thought it was more than enough for two and worked with the theme of the night.

Yea so was I, way to abuse the romanticness of the night to gip me of a dessert!:haha: And I failed to see any LAVA. The oysters were the bomb though, made the entire meal worth it. I had the lobster, which after giving my gf part of the tail meat, there was nothing left lol. But she had a ton of crab, so I ate that.
