Rear Defroster

I drive a 1998 cavalier, and my rear defroster grid doesn't work. I hit the button on my dash, the ligh turns on, but it doesn't work. How should i go about getting this fixed? I checked the connectors on on the grid on the rear glass but can't find anything to be wrong, checked fuses too. I thought starting by taking off my dash, then following the wire to see if i can find a problem? Any input would be appreciated..thanks

put a test light to the rear grid connecter to see if you're even getting power and or ground back there. If you are, then you can repair the damaged lines.
If not, taking off the dash seems like a lot of work. does the circuit run throuh a relay?
Sorry, i'm not familiar with GM's

Old thread, but it's a common problem with sunfire/cavaliers, it's a harness in the drivers kickpanel that's melted. check all the plugs above the drivrs kick panel, youll eventually find a plug with 2 or 3 wires that's fried. bypass the plug and the fried wires and you're good.

if you can't figure it out, any decent shop should be able to fix it quick as they'll have seen it 100 times already.
