Acura/Honda warranties... found the answer thanks |
what was the question? |
good question! |
just been on the fence about taking the car in for servicing at acura dealerships and doing my own oil changes etc and how the warranty will...but did some researching and figured Id just take the blow until the warranty ends in a few years..... Any suggestions about the acura/honda dealerships here in kelowna?? |
manse owns both dealers, both run under the same buisness idea so its basically a pick your poison situation. dealer servicing basicalluy comes down to, do you want youre car to just run or do you want it to run like brand new for years and years. doing the bare minimum is great if its a lease, but not if you are planning on owning it long term |
Well said JeffH. I've purchased used vehicles with 300,000 km on them with a book of receipts from the dealer. They ran and drove LIKE NEW. Then i've purchased vehicles with 300,000 km on them, no receipts.. And they were worn right out. My car sees the dealer for everything. |
It helps when the time comes to trade-in, and you have a complete record of srvice at the dealership. I dont find regular maintenance costs to be out of line at the dealership. |
When Harmony took over Parklane the service fees nearly doubled ... check out the price for a timing belt change on an MDX. :) I think last time I was in there it was like $250 for an oil change, inspection and a tire-rotate I didn't need. |
^ you also dont need to authorize anything you dont want. but yes the labour rate did go up, to standard menu pricing with every other acura dealer in canada. mdx belt would prolly be 595, same as my odyssey pilot or ridgeline |
$250 does seem high!! I think I pay about $45. |
I think it was $1200 for the MDX, and it was like timing belt, spark plugs and inspection type stuff. Insane rates. When we first got the Acura "A" service was $39, now its $69... only reason I still take it in is for "warranty-hassle" reasons... although I don't know why I bother, I've never had a Honda break under warranty :) |

$67 ish before taxes for the oil and filter change. This also includes a tire rotation, and they pull apart the brakes and inspect the pads.. Lube slide pins and etc. They say my next one is $230 something :(... I'm going to have to see what that entails. This is all from Kelowna Motors Mazda |
