Three Lower Mainland police officers arrested in downtown Vancouver

Quote:
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Three off-duty police officers from three different departments were arrested by Vancouver Police around 2:30 am, over their involvement in a fight on Burrard Street near Georgia.

Vancouver Police say the officers--from West Vancouver, New Westminster and Delta--were arrested at the scene for assault and robbery after an altercation with a 47 year old Surrey man delivering newspapers. The victim was not seriously hurt.

VPD says the Crown will be asked to review any potential charges, and the three men are still in custody and being treated like anyone else under investigation. VPD would not give any details about the officers, but Constable Sharlene Brooks of Delta Police says their member involved is a 28 year old man with three years of service.
Brooks says they are waiting for more information from Vancouver Police including the possibility of charges, before they decide if the officer gets any disciplinary measures.
wow funny how cops keeping the rules straight rob other people

I heard this on the news today... stupid cops. It was funny how they said it on the radio: "there was a beating in downtown Vancouver today and 3 police officers are now in custody"

WAT?

First, the members will be on adminstrative desk duty until further notice.
Then , they will go on suspended leave with pay.
Then , they will go on stress leave.

Once charges ( if there are any ) are laid, or once an inquiry is to be held, the officers will resign.

And not once, will the members talk to the public.

Pretty standard protocol.

But they are held to a higher standard in the court of law as they are in a position of power. Thus, while subject to similar flaws of our society, they represent the law and standard we are told to abide, so if their is a miscarry of justice on their behalf then the power of the law enforcement seems less effective.

The 38 year old New Westminster Police officer will have his suspension reviewed in 30 days. The New Westminster Police Service Professional Standards section continues their investigation and has advised the Police Complaints Commission of this action.

The three off-duty officers were arrested by Vancouver Police early yesterday morning (2:30 am) in relation to an assault and robbery of a 47 year old newspaper delivery driver from Surrey. The incident took place on Burrard Street, near Georgia.

Constable Sharlene Brooks of Delta Police says their member involved is a 28 year old man with three years of service. They are waiting for more information before deciding if the officer will receive any disciplinary measures. West Vancouver Police say their officer is a junior member who joined the force in 2007.

Heard about this a couple of hours ago.

I am hoping that there will be charges. Their conduct is completely unacceptable.
