even in special ed, how is this possible?

Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia.

cuz the people they played against were special ed. that means the special ed people cant even shoot the ball in the net. and its not hard stealing a ball away from a retard

3seriesBeeM 01-24-2009 04:52 PM

i dont understand why people are complaining if you play the game expect to get beat i remember when i was younger playing soccer we played this team in provincial qualifying and they really sucked and we beat them 21-0 for soccer thats insane its hard not to score we played with the min people on the field for the last half we took out are goalie and we swithched d to forwards and we still kept scoring i mean its in your nature to finish off a chance if i get the ball on a break or something im not just gonna stop.

must be sad embarssing for the losing team

deerock 01-24-2009 10:50 PM

Well since they are special ed i can't imagine them feeling embarrassed, infact i'd imagine them scoring on there own net a few times.

Where in the article did it say they are special ed???

It just said their school has 20 girls in total...and 8 of them are on the basketball team. Based on the normal probability of girl who play basketball, I'd say all 8 of them did not want to be on the team but were FORCED to be on the team. They probably don't give a shit after losing.

This is stupid. Usually to be a good sport, you lay off a bit instead of full force the whole game. Not to mention against a bunch of retards...

azzurro32 01-25-2009 05:27 PM

The article doesn't really go into details about what kind of retards they are.

I mean 100-0 is something you would expect to see watching a team play a team full of autistics.

The article only states they have '"learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia. '''

J-Chow 01-25-2009 06:20 PM

So basically, the special eds wouldn't know the difference between winning and losing ,so technically 100-0 means a win win for them. :lol

the coach of the winning team got fired.
serves him right! this guy was forcing his team to fucking play full court press the whole game against a team thats semi-retarded.

its called class, and being a good sport. Once the game is in the bag (say 70-0), you can ease off the pedal, especially against semi-retarded kids.

I remembered one time a local AHL, or WHL - cant remember which team it was. I was only like in grade 5 at the time. But the AHL team played against the grade 7 team in floor hockey at our elementary school. 4 AHL players vs 6 grade 7 players, the AHL guys were half assing and let the grade 7 guys win.

Play every game to the fullest of you abilities, never half-ass everything because thats disrespectful to the game.

Doesn't matter if they were handicapped kids or not. No need to run the points when you're up even 40.

I would say when the points are 40+, handicapped or not, the opposing team probably gave up on the game. 100 pts is not much of an accomplishment when 60 pts are freebies.

The_AK 01-26-2009 10:07 AM

wow they must be really good...

If you're playing for the NBA or in college this would be true, but playing against a team that isn't even able to score 1 basket and you are up by 60 points the right thing to do is let up. I'm not saying stop trying, but there's no reason to do a full court press and launch 3's...

learning differences SUCH AS short attention spans and dyslexia...

if thats just some of the people on the team...theres really no excuse to have fired the coach...whats are they doing "HEY!! HEY!!! PASS ME THE BALL!!! IM OVERhey look, that score board has pretty lights on it!!" or kids who are dyslexic?! "i didnt know which side said "HOME" so i didnt shoot the ball.

serious? dude shouldnt have gotten fired, im SURE theres schools out there with "special ed" teams for this reason alone. its like being in a drag race...a dodge viper vrs a gremlin...should the viper stay in first gear only just to give the shitty car a chance?

Isn't that the reason why all sports are segregated by classifications?

Like in boxes, classifications are divided by weight.

Hockey, has rec hockey vs. AAA Hockey.

etc etc

yes it is, thats a damn good point, which is why, why should they have let a "special ed team" play against a competetive team?? did they honestly think that the better team would dumb themselves down so the other team could feel good about themselves and give them false hope that their decent?

then wtf do u expect them to do ... 4 of them take a nap on the court while one of the girls make half court shots?

buddy its a basketball game... dun like the game then forfiet and leave the couch should have never been fired

azzurro32 01-26-2009 07:04 PM

For all of those people saying they shouldn't be running up points, then what do you recommend the winning team should be doing?

The only logical thing is for the refs to step in and stop the game. Otherwise whats going to happen during game play? Miss shots on purpose? Keep passing the ball for 24 seconds at a time? Just GIVE the other team the ball?

Either stop the game, or play the game as it's meant. By then the score is pointless and you just have a quarter and a half to kill, might as well play it.
