help with springs
 

So I am planning on lowering my car in the next month or so and I just want to know what the difference between coilover lowering springs and just normal lowering springs or if there is even a difference? If someone could let me know that would be awesome thanks a lot!!!

coilovers = spring and shock combo where the strut perch (where the spring sits and rests on the strut/shock) is adjustable in height

lowering springs = springs that are made at a higher or equal spring rate, but have the car sit lower.

These are coilovers, you can see the perch looks like 2 metal nuts, and just behind the black spring u can see the silver threads that the nuts can be screwed up or down to set the ride height

if you're thinking ebay coil over lowering springs don't bother. they're crap

What do you plan for or want from the car? Generally speaking shock/spring is better for daily driving and a bit of spirited driving and coil overs are much better for performance.

Big difference between both. Lots of differant variables. Are you using stock wheels? How slammed do you want your ride to be? Will this car be seeing track days?

You can expect to change your stock suspension over to an aftermarket strut and shock , if you plan on using lowering springs. Look to spend around $1000 for a good strut +spring combo. Stock Struts do not like to have lowering springs thrown on. You will blow them away.

Coils can run $2000 + for a decent set.

Are you talking about coilover sleeves or actual coilovers? Coilover sleeves are garbage.

As for running lowering springs, stutterr is right about the effects on your stock shocks.

As for coils, a decent set can be bought for 1000-1200 due to rising costs nowadays....before it was possible to get sub 1k for coils.
