Are PAYG phones unlocked by default?
 
Considering buying a phone for my folks to use, and was wondering if the Pay as You Go phones come unlocked by default (since you're no longer getting a subsidized phone).

The folks are on Fido, and I'm wondering if I can cross shop at Rogers to find a decent phone for them. I don't really want to pay any extra to unlock it, and if it's an unsubsidized phone, I don't see any reason why it should be locked.

nope, they are still locked.

actually i think 7-11 phones are unlocked for Rogers i know their simcards work in my rogers phones
