Can't detect slave drive Hey guys, I need some help. My system was working fine until I was testing some old IDE HD's. Now the slave drive (IDE 80GB) is not detecting when connected to my primary OS/programs drive (IDE 20GB). I've troubleshooted everything.... - Pri or sec port with both HD = BAD - Pri or sec port with CDR+DVDR = OK - New cables on pri or sec port with both HD = BAD - New cables on pri or sec port with CDR+DVDR = OK - 20GB only on pri or sec = OK - 80GB only on pri or sec = OK - 20GB (M) + CDR or DVDR (S) on either pri or sec = BAD - 20GB (S) + CDR or DVDR (M) on either pri or sec = OK - 80GB + CDR or DVDR in any S/M config on pri or sec = OK All above combos were tested with cable select configs. The only thing that I can think of that I didn't try was reverting bios settings back to its default config, and I'd really not do that. Currently running an Athlon 2000+ and MSI Ultra KT3 (Ami bios). If anyone can give some pointers, let me know. Thanks. |
try not using cable selection and manual putting the jumpers to primary or slave |
Yeah, fiddle with the jumpers and make one master and one slave. |
Gave up on it. I just imaged my 20GB to another 20GB I had lying around and it worked. Thanks for the replies though. |
