I got one for that list from when I worked a Liquor Store.

Bums that bring in bottles. We have a 24 limit per day. I see you everyday and everyday you try to bring in more and everyday I say no. I would love to just throw you out but because we charge deposit we have to take back. Its not my fault your homeless so don't get pissed at me for following the rules. And DON'T stand around the corner and ask customers to bring flats of cans in for you! You think I'm stupid when a guy in a suit walks in with a flat of cans all falling off the flat? (in this case I let the guy put the cans down then tell him I know where they came from and if the bum wants them he can come in a get them :) that way I can ban him from the store lol)

Berz out.

my friend works at a BCL and i think he only makes $14 an hour (at least when he started.. not sure about now).

this guy is way too sour... thats just what you gotta deal with in customer service. your pride has to be put on hold and you're kind of expected to be pleasant.

asking for extra bags? just give it to them, who cares its not coming out of your pocket.
talking on cell phones? who cares if they dont acknowledge you, its not like you acknowledge them with your attitude.
staring at a receipt? i do this all the time, you'd be surprised how often you get ripped off!

StaxBundlez 02-02-2009 10:24 AM

hahahah this fucken guy.. needs a new job.. he'll never be happy with himself/herself

hotjoint 02-02-2009 11:22 AM

BC Liquor Store managers get paid around ~40K/year. There's no way a clerk gets paid $20/hour - that would mean a clerk would make what a store manager makes.

I've done lots of customer service in my day and customers talking on their phones is pretty annoying. If you need to talk, take the conversation outside. Whenever I go into stores, I almost never take calls inside the store nor do I wear my earphones (which a lot of people do and is annoying also.)

You should make a note of the prices before going to the cashier and if there's a problem, you should take care of it before you sign your receipt (it makes it easier for you and the cashier.) People should quit holding up the lines. /end rant.

I feel his pain for the mutiple plastic bag thing....

I used to work at the duty free store in the airport....and you have to bubble wrap that sucker and put it into a clear plastic bag...seal it....and then put it into another plastic bag...

We even have tiny little 250mL maple syrups that some customers would want bubble wrapped, sealed AND bagged INDIVIDUALLY when there is a massive line up 5min before their boarding time.....

there seems to be a clear division in this thread between people who have worked in the service industry, and those who haven't.

Gh0stRider 02-02-2009 01:18 PM

i can relate to number 1 and 2 from working at a casino. They give such attitude when asked for ID.

BoneThug 02-02-2009 01:25 PM

the guy forgot the smell. every day someone comes in and shatters a bottle. if you work at BCL and you are hungover from the night before, the last thing you want to do is smell wisers for the next 8 hours.

Bouncing Bettys 02-02-2009 02:20 PM

even without working in the service industry this list can still apply to customers like myself. the lack of respect and consideration for others that i witness in public places is getting appalling. talking on a cell phone or listening to music in public tells me and everyone around you that your priority is somewhere else, that you don't consider the people around you as important or worthy of your respect. its incredibly rude and disrespectful. there is a time and place for that stuff which is when you are by yourself. talking loudly or using profanity in public runs along the same lines. i like to swear, or say inappropriate things among friends but i am considerate and respectful enough to realise that in public not everyone can appreciate my language or loudness. if i'm in the presence of children i stop swearing or talking about subjects i know they shouldn't hear. if i am in a public place, i lower my voice so only those around me can hear me because i know not everyone wants to hear what i have to say.

most of the other issues this guy brought up also run along similar lines of lack of respect and consideration. if you know you have to provide 2 pieces of ID then have it ready when you get to the clerk. if he only asks for 1 or none at all, then be pleased. otherwise you are wasting the time of those behind you in line and the clerk. same goes for not having your method of payment ready to go. and if you don't like some stranger touching you then why assume its ok to do the same to someone else.

^^^ Werd. Lining up (ie. for a bank teller) behind someone who likes to chat on the phone to pass the time is highly annoying in of itself.

So? Doesn't mean I can't complain about it. I just happen to find it silly. No need to attack me over it.

What about with cock?

xyz123 02-03-2009 06:51 PM

haha, There are so many Negatives and positives in not only a BCL employee but in many other jobs. Pretty Good read.

kyoshi 02-03-2009 07:42 PM

lol that list goes for a lot of different jobs.

Funny that it mentions the id requirement.
I work at a bank and i get all sorts of looks when someone tries to take out like
5000 and i ask for a piece of ID to confirm that this person is the actual account holder
