Bumps from Shaving my head So basically I shave my head alot and on the back of my neck are these nasty disgusting welt/bumps. how do i get rid of em? I think someone told my hydrocortizone but im not totally sure where I would even get that. I'm bowing down to the collective knowledge of RS. Thanks |
your razor might be dull, when i switch razor more often i dont get those "bumps" anymore |
Sounds like someone's got a tiny problem with ingrown hairs. Here try this, last note talks about bumps on the neck area as well: http://health.howstuffworks.com/home...rown-hairs.htm http://www.getridofthings.com/get-ri...grown-hair.htm |
It's called razor bumps. A Google search will suffice. :) |
sharp razor moisturize exfoliate and most important before you shave ur head, make sure ur skin/scalp has its pores open. this will make shaving much better. just basically use the same procedure as you would when shaving ur face. |
first i know why i have them. i never cleaned the razor. i do now but its def not ingrown hairs. it looks closer to a cancerous tumour. seriously. and razor bumps go away after awhile. these have been here for a year plus. i need to see a dermatologist but i haven't had the time. but yeah they are def not ingrown hairs or razor bumps. bad terminology on my part. |
well maybe even if they are some super razor bumps, how do i burn them off? time is not doing it. |
long shot, eczema? |
FYI: Ingrown hairs and Razor Bumps are the same thing. Chronic conditions can last a long time or it seems as it won't go away at all. |
ask your family doctor and if they don't know, they can send you to a specialist |
i did last year. referred me to a dermatologist i just have not had the time to go. i really hope its not cancer. |
it could be folliculitis, i use to have it when i got my head shaved. |
cure? |

"i have this medical thing that is annoying me and i've gotten recommended to a specialist. this is important and i'm getting worried it could be something as serious as cancer" "oh well, i'm busy, better ask RS and just leave it at that." i can almost hear the cancer high 5ing each other. |

but you should consult with your doctor to see what the problem is. if your waiting in the mean time, you could try the Polytar shampoo; it doesn't need a prescription and you can buy it any where like London drugs, superstore etc. |

Update? I got a bump behind my head as well after I got a hair cut. I believed.. Posted via RS Mobile |
I have what look like pimples in the back of my head. Have had them for years. Doctor said it is some sort of bacterial infection. Which comes and goes. I will take antibiotics but once I finish the cycle they slowly come back. Its a pain in the ass sometimes when getting a haircut because they swell up like a pimple, but my barber said a lot of people have the same problem. Also doctor reccommended I use tersaseptic shampoo which can help. http://shopping.canoe.ca/images/deta.../102009598.jpg |

Not going to lie, I thought that was a hairy nipple when I first scrolled down. |

That's what they went to school for, they don't just sit there and hand out drugs based on some Dr's suggestions. Half the time the Dr's don't know shit about what drugs are best for some skin conditions. Go see a pharmacist. it's free and you can get something to get rid of it. idiots out there |
I've been shaving my head since about 2002-ish. Sounds like you have dull blades, or just crappy skincare in general. I switched to double-edged razors about two years ago. Each blade costs less than a dime, so you can switch them out after every shave if you want, and still save money over cartridges. Plus it makes you feel like a manly man when you do it old school with a shaving brush, cream, etc. |
