These are what happened after i tried to wipe off salt with tissue... Hopefully, these are clearcoat scratches?

When March/April comes, I'm going to book a detailing appointment, would they be able to fix the rock chip also? Is there anything i should do for now? T.T

repaint is one way. You can get someone to do touch up but it may not look nice. this was a bad winter. As you learned, never wipe off with a tissue. Just wash the car or find a place to do it. I went to a friends condo and used their underground wash bay.

haha I don't mean to sound ignorant, but what made you think a tissue was a good idea? That should come out if you get it polished or wet sanded. Give 911fanatic a PM, he does great work.

Just give it a wash whenever you can. Buy some quality detailing supplies and never have this happen again. Like I said, I don't know how much Ken (911Fanatic) would charge for something like this but shoot him a PM. No need to repaint unless it's super deep.

Damn that rock chip looks pretty bad!
Do the finger nail test, run your nail over the scratches, if it catches it probably wont buff out as easily, but I'm pretty sure a good detail will minimize it

And as others have stated, never brush your car's paint with anything when its dirty

the scratches on car pass the fingernail test but scratches on the window! dont... glass is more easily scratchable than body? anyways

your car is a 2008?!? oh god after those pics i thought it was an old beater :cry:

that rock chip is just too damn big to just touch up. there are some places that do spot repair work with an airbrush if you're cheap, but after asking around i've been told their work dosen't age well and you'll have problems again with the finish down the road.

the car is really dirty so i can't tell... is this a black metallic paint?

Yeah that chip is pretty bad, if you want the best results you'd probably have to repaint the entire panel

the chip is about the size of maybe 1piece of rice krispy cut in half and put side by side.

paint is black obisidan. dont know if its metallic.

draft is right. that chip looks so deep, right down to the metal if that is rust i'm seeing around the edges. they will have to sand it down, maybe fill a little bit, to make things flush again. then they would prime the spot and may have to paint the entire panel to make the color blend. you need some sort of bodyline or break in the bodywork to help hide the transition from new to old paint... ugh i'm not sure if i'm explaining it right :o

if you left it, i would start trolling for a donor car with a good fender... and it would be a signature mark identifying it as your ride and we'll be writing things on your car (wash it! fix it! courtesy of RS beatdown crew :haha: )

from my minimal past experience, and not knowing what type of paint it is (metallic or not), you could be looking at.... $400-700-ish to repair if done properly and not done cheapass ghetto macco-style?

but if you are going to leave it, i would clean off all the rust you can, get touch up primer from cambodian tire and cover up the exposed metal and then buy touch up paint from the dealer and match it up... and don't try to use the paint to fill it level :(
