earthquake in langley tonight
 

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) - People living around Langley had a rather scary, earth-shaking experience this evening.

Natural Resources Canada is reporting that an earthquake happened in the Langley area at 9:22 p.m. From the calls we've been getting, the tremor seems to be have been centred around Walnut Grove.

Seismologist Alison Bird with the Geological Survey of Canada says it was a small quake that measured 2.1. She says we have earthquakes this size everyday. Bird says the reason so many people felt it is because it was close to the surface and usually they are much deeper.
If you ever do feel a quake, Bird says you can go to their website where you can file a report about what you experienced and where you are located. She says that helps them with their data collection. You can find their website here and fill out their questionnaire titled "Did you feel it?"
