Telus - TV, Internet, Home Phone

Hi all, I'd like to ask some questions regarding about the whole telus bundle since it's pretty attractive; however I'm reading there are downfalls to this. Yes, I've tried google but I'd like to see if anyone else here have some insight to this.

Currently I'm using Shaw HDTV, I'd like to know from all the other Telus HDTV viewers on how great the quality is it and do you get interruptions, lost signals, etc. because of bandwidth problems?

Would my telus highspeed enhanced speed be compromised because I read somewhere that HDTV takes 9mbps out of the total 12mbps they give you

Is it true only a maximum of two TVs can be operated in one household? And of those two, only one can be HD?

Are there any plans for bandwidth upgrade in the future for multiple HDTV per household?

What is the current technology for telus? What is this ADSL2+?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

HDTV + Internet + Phone for Shaw still better? you save quite abit in bundle. If u want to switch to something else switch it to Bell, thats only option that makes sense.

a friend of ours tried out the telus TV and he said it was not as good as Shaw. Prbably needs some more time to improve in this area.

I'm in a new condo that was prewired with Telus fibre, so my experience wouldn't be a fair comparison to those in homes with regular connections. But I'm perfectly fine with the quality of TV, both regular and HD channels. It's been very reliable for me... pretty much never any interruptions of service.

Very possibly, yes. My parents also have Telus TV and Internet at their house, and there were times where it definitely felt like the TV was causing major slowdowns with the Internet because the TV packets have priority.

Well, not two TVs, but two set top boxes. Even here in our apartment with fibre, we can still only have one set top box with HD.

Wouldn't count on it in the near future... they upgraded to ADSL 2+ not that long ago... doubt they'll be upgrading it again anytime soon.

My net with telus is very inconstant! But has been okay lately.

Telus tv is just awful, Ive had it for nearly a year now and it's brutal. The box is a POS and the guide lags big time!! often if freezes and I have to unplug it and let it re-download it's settings. I had ordered sportsnet pacific HD and they gave me Ontario instead...several hours of bitching them out on the phone and about 2 months later they finally fixed it!

We get telus tv/internet free because it's included in our rent, but it's so bad that we're actually considering switching to shaw and paying for it ourselves.

Shaw is more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I've had Telus TV for a while now, went through their original box, then the HD one, and now the HD PVR. It sucked before but it's pretty good now. Quality is nice, the guide doesn't lag as much as before but it has no info now :lol Only two set-top boxes and only one can be HD, but you can move them around, only restricted by your Ethernet cable.

Also, the 2wire modem/wireless router they usually give you is CRAP. Ask for the Thompson SpeedTouch if you can. Makes a world of difference.

Also x2, the bundle isn't that great as it requires a subscription to their overly expensive long-d plans.

I switched my phone and internet from Shaw to Telus cuz I get a 40% discount. The phone service is comparable but the Internet is much slower. I was also told that I could only do a max of 2 TV's and that HD wasn't available in my area yet. Overall, for a bundle of all 3, Shaw is much better.
