oem intake "box" need it?
 
hi there,

a noob question really but here goes,

i got myself some retrofit headlights and the projector is blocked by the intake..
the intake goes to this box on the bottom and comes back up... do i need that "box"

box = resonator?

car: 99 accord v6 seden

That "box" usually helps by trapping debris eg dust / sand from going into the engine.. if you don't want those safety margins.. then you don't need to have it.

ic cause i did notice some water in it ... but thats it....

so no pros/cons

it also acts a 'silencer' for your intake system. without that box, your intake will be louder (which could be good or bad depending if you like the sound/noise).

Take it out, and get a K&N filter, as long as you clean the filter on a regular basis theres no need to wory about dust entering the engine. Or why not get an SRI?

I'm getting a short ram intake from garage 5 very soon but for now this should be good enuff.

There are pros and cons.. just imagine the water end up in your engine.
