why not run dual boot? i would, ideally in the future, purchase a macbook, up the ram to 2x2G, swap out the hard drive for a 500G, and partition it to 2x250G. image the original 250G hdd onto 1 partition, use the other partition as windows plateform. Best of both worlds. |

First off the Vista complaints are about as old as saying Macs are "better at Photoshop". There's nothing wrong with Vista (I personally don't use it, but I have no problem with it) unless you're a god damn idiot that doesn't know how to disable startup programs and uninstall Norton shit that comes preloaded on some laptops. Secondly, NONE of your points on the Windows laptops has anything to do with Windows. Magsafe adapter was a fuckin gimmick. I found it more annoying on my old Macbook than useful. Anytime I tried to use my laptop while in bed, the magsafe would come off. Tons of Windows laptops have backlit keyboards (Dell XPS Studio for one). Battery life depends on what kind of laptop you buy. Obviously, when you buy some piece of shit Inspiron 15, you're going to get shit battery life; try a Thinkpad or a higher-end Vaio and you'll get WAY BETTER battery life than a Mac (my old Thinkpad had 10h30m battery life). And plasticy Windows laptops? Yeah every laptop that has Windows on it must have shit build quality. Like I said earlier, I exchanged my Macbook 2-3 times before I ended up returning it cause the build was so awful. Before you call me a Mac hater, I've had TWO different generations of Macbooks and ended up getting rid of them both times cause they were so poorly built. My original white plastic one had the browning palm rests and melting/creaking plastics (google it, it pretty much affected ALL the early units). My aluminum one had loose battery covers, slanted keys, flickering screens, all of which I've found other people having on the Macrumors forum. |
Really, there are pros and cons to both sides. Vista complaints should be thrown out. Anything pre-SP1 is outdated. Mac really pushed the envelope when they switched to Intel chips. Making it even more viable to the market since it can run Windows. I've used a Mac running Parallels and I can say it is pretty darn spot on. Either or, if you're not so computer literate, buying a Mac will save you headaches. |
