bmw 550 opinions im looking to buy a 2006 550i automatic, around $44k, 42,000 kms driven. what does everyone think of this car? i checked around the same price range and it seems the best model and i dont want to go down to 535 v6 although im very open to suggestions. im considering an used 550 because the new 335i is 50k+ and everyone and their moms have a 3 series. i dont think a 2 year old car is going to make a difference in terms of reliability so i'd avoid the new car premium and taxes. also, is 44k a good deal? thanks in advance. |
Seems like a decent price, does it have the m-sport kit? |
what engine is featured in the 550i? 42,000kms is pretty low for a 2006. Have you checked out the market to compare what similar cars go for? I'd say go for it if the price is right. |
535i -> 300hp 550i -> 360hp both can get up to 400hp easily...:D but i would pick 550i |
I have a 06 550i, great daily driver with gobs of torque. The V8 5 series are comfortable stylish sedans, but they do feel much bigger and heavier than E90 3 series. If you value comfort and an easy to live with daily driver, the 5 series with M-sport package is the way to go. However if you value performance over creature comforts, I would suggest an E90 335i. Personally, I would recommend getting a 550i for the week and a E46 M3 or 135i for the weekends! |
it does have a m sport kit, and yeah i realize that its a big car. i drive an acura tl right now and this thing is 500lbs more. thanks for the suggestions guys. i am also looking at the infiniti m45 but there doesn't seem to be many cars in this segment that isn't catered to old people (like the e-class). |

E60 with M-sport kit is classy, don't see too many of those around. If it's 2 years old, there should still be balance of warranty on it, and also extended warranty can be purchased. |
yeah the M package looks nice =) |
