Singapore Airlines cancelling service to Vancouver

Wow, bad news and I seriously didn't see this coming. I guess the A380 will not be coming to Van.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Our travel industry is getting hit again. Singapore Airlines is canceling its service to Vancouver.

It flies three times a week to YVR but it's announced that it will no longer be doing so as of April 25th. After serving Canada for more than 20 years, the airline says the global economic crisis is their reason for their decision

Fuck that blows. At least we can fly cathay still... but singapore was my choice for flying to asia.. they made the most comfortable long flights...

I'm a Cathay only traveler but I've heard good things about SG Air.

Great, less competition, higher prices.

Don't most airlines offer unlimited alcoholic drinks for oversea flights? I know Eva, Air Canada, United, and Cathay do.

Yeah they usually do have pretty hot flight attendants... the following pics aren't the greatest examples of how hot they are... but here are just an idea of the how their uniforms look for those who don't know!! :haha:

As much as the state of the economy has to do with this news, another factor that definitely didn't help was the fact that Singapore and Canada have not been able to reach an agreement on a bilateral air agreement limiting SQ to only 3 times a week.Seeing as how SQ routed their flight through Incheon also contributed to the downfall of this particular route. Korean Air recently announced daily service to YVR, which most certainly ate into SQ's loads. It is rumored that Asiana is also looking into the possibility of eventually servicing YVR from Incheon..
