Criminal Record Check About a month ago I applied for a volunteer position in Vancouver, my interview went very well, in fact she even said I got the position, all I had to do now is to get a criminal record check. I thought it will be easy and done with, because prior to that, I had no criminal record nor ever had any negative experience with any police officer. But for some reason my record check came in and I wasn't suitable for the position. I went back to the VPD department to ask why, but they were not allowed to open up my record. So my question is, is there anyway I can clear this up? I know somewhere I can take a look. The only thing that might show up is the fact that I am going to court in Jun, but only as a witness. Thanks |
Call the interviewer up and ask him/her why you aren't suitable. It may not be because of your crim record. |
Or they found someone else better, it happens :( |
Actually I did get the position, what happened was that the VPD Cst told my employer that my record shows that I was not suitable. |
Is it a community policing centre by any chance? |
it is, thanks. i think theres something called freedom of act, something like that? where i apply to check?im not sure of the process though |
CPCs in Vancouver are run privately under different separate societies in partnership with the VPD. The Neighborhood Policing Officer (basically the officer who "stations" at the CPC) has the final say on who can be taken on board as volunteers. You can always contact him directly; or do another criminal record check and send it to yourself? |
I didn't know i can send it to myself, thanks for the great help! |
which CPC was this? |
Probably a long shot, but maybe your name was flagged for being associated with someone heatscore? My guess however is they are using it as an excuse to not accept you. |
it was Grandview Woodland. On Commercial near 1st |
"My guess however is they are using it as an excuse to not accept you. " Maybe it was considered a "reason" , not an "excuse". I'm not saying that this is your case. but since somebody else here is speculating...well... People that hang around heat seekers do so because they want to be there doing those things. Like the latest driver of a Range Rover that got shot overnight. Seems the shooter wanted the rear passenger. Calling the driver a "victim" is a real stretch to me. Run with the foxes, get hunted by the hounds. Anyone who keeps company with criminals should not expect to become involved in law Enforcement. |
