British train station bans kissing to make the facility more 'efficient'

LONDON - Stop smooching.

That's the message of a new sign that went up outside a train station in northern England on Monday.

The sign shows a profile of a couple kissing, with a diagonal red line across their image.

The goal is to stop departing passengers from pulling up in their cars at a crowded drop-off point and pausing to kiss each other farewell.

Virgin Rail says it installed the sign while refurbishing the station after a local business networking group said the place had to become more efficient.

But profit margins may have been a factor, too.

Virgin Rail says that if passengers want to share an embrace before they part company, they should pay to park their cars nearby where they can kiss all they want.

Might as well ban carrying any luggage in your trunk, cus you'd have to take a minute to go and get that outta the trunk.

you won't understand how busy and how much more efficient the UK really is.

Vancouver is a fucking slow city. I'm sure there's at lease 1 coworker in your workplace that is either super lazy, or just plain stupid and slow

What a bs factor hahaha

I think the UK is more efficient because their rail system goes everywhere. The other thing, is that clocks are literally everywhere - I often think this freaks people out and increases their efficiency.

soon London will ban guys from jerking off..
then gg...

so many unnecessary laws...

why can't they just let orange7 make the rules for them???

Mancini 02-17-2009 07:09 AM

It doesn't sound like it's enforced. I would never fail to give my wife a kiss when departing on a trip.

hotjoint 02-17-2009 10:42 AM

stupid

Londonistan soon won't have to worry, when the majority of women will be wearing the veil!

No kidding. Anyone ever been on an escalator in Europe? It's like driving, if you're going slow you stand on the right and people can pass you. It's pretty unbelievable.

twitchyzero 02-17-2009 12:32 PM

^ well the universal etiquette for escalators is if you're not moving..you stand to the right and let whoever's in a rush on the left pass you just like driving.

lol, no wonder TopGear had a motion to remove all stupid signs. It's really ridiculous.

tiger_handheld 02-17-2009 03:28 PM

^ its diff in vancouver, you stand on the right and the left while on an escalator.

there's actually government campaigns to stop this as they believe that it leads to the premature breakdown of the escalators from the uneven weight distribution lol

hongkong is like this too, it's common courtesy. Vancouver is just that, too laid back to give a damn.
