How to adjust the Speedo after changing Rims/Tires?

I have used the Tire Size Calculator
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

and it shows that my speedo might show around 5% faster than the actual speed.

Is there a way to adjust that? or if anyone is bothered about this issue? Techincally, my milage would be higher than it otherwise would?

Just leave it....unless you're running a A/M digital speedo with correction capabilities (which I assume you're not) then you're pretty SOL on this one. Pay to play, live with it!

That tire calculator isn't that great, wasn't even close when comparing my wheels.

also doesn't account for stretched tires.

edit: why are you going with a smaller circumference anyhow?

I was using 205/50R17.

And planning to get 215/40R17..

I can see that it's a 3.3cm drop of the wheel height..

you can use 215/45/17 or 225/45/17, and it will be much closer, what car is it?
