Motherboards

I need a damn new motherboard, but I don't know much about the brand and quality out there. All I know is that I need a motherboard that has 775 slot/microATX/supports 5GB of ram & Intel Q6600. Budget will be up to $150.

why 5gb ram? anything past 4 is useless
just go with something like asus p5e-vm

Armind 02-18-2009 06:23 PM

Cause I have 5GB of ram to use =P

I was looking at this one: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS

Any good?

I'm partial to Gigabyte as I always seem to run into minor issues with Asus boards that I never run into with Gigabyte boards.

AsBannedAsItGets 02-18-2009 07:23 PM

ya gigabyte are quite good in terms of price/performance ratio but their mobo's are butt ugly with all their bright/tacky colors.

icemiko 02-18-2009 07:42 PM

I'll say Gigabyte too since I'm using one right now and no problems at all, had for almost 1 year already.

Armind 02-18-2009 07:55 PM

Any particular model?

This a cheap bottom of the line one.

There are other ones ones with more features if you want them.

You should be running your ram in pairs.

^ How come? I don't know much about the technical side of computers lol.

Because when they are in pairs they run in dual channel mode and that is faster.

Whats your comp budget?

Armind 02-19-2009 12:32 AM

^ Hmm.. I'm not planning to build a computer as of now. Just upgrading my damn Acer M5620. But, I might consider building my own pc if I know how much I could sell my pc for.

Acer Aspire m5620
nVidia 8600GT
500GB HD
3x1GB 1x2 GB RAM
DVD-writer

Main reason why I want another mobo is because I wanna install OSX and dual boot it on my PC. Can't afford a damn Mac cause they're expensive.

TekDragon 02-19-2009 02:21 PM

Would suggest either
Asus P5Q-Pro
Gigabyte EP45 UD3P or UD3R

Armind 02-19-2009 02:25 PM

Non of those will be able to fit in my case.. I need an mATX.

AsBannedAsItGets 02-19-2009 02:37 PM

May I ask which case you're using?

Armind 02-19-2009 02:41 PM

An Acer Aspire m5620. -_-"

But like I said a few posts back, if I can sell my pc for the right amount of money for a custom built pc +&150 which I am planning to spend on a mobo. I wouldn't mind doing so.

AsBannedAsItGets 02-19-2009 03:33 PM

custom case is the way to go. generic ones always cause problems and are really limited

Armind 02-19-2009 04:09 PM

Darn.

Manic! 02-20-2009 12:40 AM

whats the point in upgrading your MB?
