Did timing belt, Bad idle

Hey,

So i changed my timing belt and am 99.99999% sure the timings are in place. (it starts fine and it doesn't feel like i lost power). It starts and idles fine when cold, but once it warms up, the idle bounces and then it stalls.(Bounces betwwen 1000-300)

Anyone have any ideas as what may be causing this problem?

PS: I drive a 88 prelude. DOHC

Thanks

Air bubbles? Did you burp the coolant system?

is the engine a dohc or a sohc?

if its sohc, loosen the bolts that hold the distributor in place, u will notice that the holes are elongated, that is because they are used to adjust timing. with a timing gun, just advance it or retard it by tapping it ever so slightly to the right or to the left.

other than that, for rough idle, i believe the older preludes had the iac valve that affects idle when the engine is warm.

No, but I didn't replace the water pump, just the timing belt and tensioner. Would it still be possible for air to get in coolant system?

yeah sorry, it's DOHC. Idle Air Control Valve?
Ill write that down and check it tomorrow.

Anything else that may cause this problem?

UPDATE!!!
There is DEFINITLY a chattering noise. As well as very rough idling. Accelerates fine. Fairly responsive.
Caused by belt being off a tooth?

UPDATE:

Belt was off a tooth

88-91 prelude twin cams...the intake cam always moves when trying to re-install the belt. Thats if you have it all set to #1 before disassembley. You almost need 3 hands to slip the new belt on

Yeah, you need to lock them using drill bits. (Number 9 i believe) I also noticed the intake cam is slightly more advanced then the exhaust. Not sure if its just mine though

same problem with my prelude. try cleaning the TB and FITV. it could be as simple as carbon in your air system.
