Very quick question...12 hr suspension + drive contrary to restriction

I just got a ticket for both of those yesterday. I just need a quick estimate on how long you guys think my licence will be prohibited for. My driving record isn't all that great as for i've already had my licence prohibited before twice for 2 months because of 24hr suspension (1 time) and the other time was for 2 speeding tickets. However these violations happen 2 years ago. So ya i just want to know how long u guys think i'm gonna get prohibited for.... and if its worth writing a letter to the Superintendent. thanks in advance

RiceIntegraRS 02-20-2009 04:14 PM

probably 5-6 months this time around

CRS 02-20-2009 11:38 PM

Do you think you deserve to not get suspended?

If the answer is no, then don't bother writing to the super.

danny87 02-21-2009 11:18 AM

i do deserve getting suspended but not for a long time (for instance 1yr). Like I have no idea how long i'm gonna get suspended for.... 5-6 months is reasonable.... but a year or a year and a half isn't (i'm making those numbers up). So ya... only for that reason will i write to the super, the prohibition time is insane like over a year.

And why is that? Why isn't 1 year acceptable?

danny87 02-21-2009 12:56 PM

i don't think so. Dude...All i want to know is how long you think i'm going to get suspended for... thats it.

Gu3s5 02-21-2009 01:25 PM

im gonna say 8 months.

CRS 02-21-2009 01:38 PM

So this is your third time?

After each suspension is handed out, there is more and more time added to the suspension because obviously, the offender does not understand what is going on. In other words, the offender does not realize that driving is a privilege and not a right. So either play nice or you'll be sitting in time out for longer.

I'm going to guess (depending on your previous suspension times) that this one will be anywhere from 8 months to a year.

I heard from someone that a person could go to calgary and get a drivers licence there and then come back to BC and use that here. Is that possible? Cause if it is, why doesn't everyone (who gets suspended) do that then? Anyways, keep on giving me your guesses. thanks

This has already been discussed if you use the search function

:gotsearch

To be short, it is not legal and if you get caught doing it, you're going to go for a time out for a VERY long time. Play by the rules and if you don't, you won't get to play. Seriously. Stop trying to wheedle your way out. Accept responsibilities for your actions and stop looking for ways out.

In other words, man up and stop being a whiny bitch.

danny87 02-21-2009 03:48 PM

o ya i know i'm definitely not gonna do that. I was just curious. Heres another question.... just let me know if I'm wrong.... "Regardless if i pay the ticket, don't pay the ticket or dispute the ticket; I will STILL recieve a letter from the superintendent and get my licence suspended because i had a 12-hr suspension along with it.

You are right.

danny87 02-21-2009 04:13 PM

so i just wanna clarify it.... the ticket is (in a way) irrelevant to the prohibition length stated by the superintendent.... Cuz i thought they were related because the ticket contains (3 pts). So in other words i'm getting my licence taken away because of the 12hr suspension not because the 3pts cuz of my ticket..... thanks guys for answering my questions.

MyPresIzBlack 02-21-2009 04:46 PM

Superintendent will deem you unfit to drive on our roads regardless of what kind of tickets you got. If this is your third suspension like from what I gathered from your original post, you will get a 1 yr suspension. Usually its 3 months, 6 months and then 1 yr if you are lucky. If your third hit was really bad, IE you were drinking and driving for the 2nd time around, they may take your license away for over a year.

Graeme S 02-21-2009 09:12 PM

what was the restriction you violated?

danny87 02-21-2009 10:29 PM

no "N" and having "alcohol in my body".... but the cop was nice enough to just write a ticket for "driving contrary to restriction" rather than giving me 2 tickets 1 for "no N" and the other for "drinking and driving." So...i don't know if that helps my case or not.

simsimi1004 02-21-2009 11:35 PM

helps ur case alot.

danny87 02-22-2009 08:32 AM

y... because the superintendent wouldn't know that I got caught for drinking and driving?

CRS 02-22-2009 09:02 AM

Exactly.

You should thank the officer like he was your God.

ninjatune 02-22-2009 09:09 AM

^ And then stop drinking and driving. Next time you might just kill someone and be screwed for life.

Graeme S 02-22-2009 09:50 AM

The more you talk, the less sympathy anyone has. Not once; not twice, but THRICE you violated the rules and restrictions of a new driver yet you want sympathy and mercy? If I had my druthers, there would be a three strikes law in re: suspensions.

You should be insanely thankful to that officer, and remember that if you dispute the ticket, he can issue you additional ones up to a year after the incident.

How I wish they would permanently prohibit drivers like you.

simsimi1004 02-22-2009 03:36 PM

^ although, if he disputes it, it would probably take a year to get a court date so the officer wont be able to issue additional ones, and he might as well try for a no show!!

Ughhh no. Most tickets go to court in about 8 months.

Even then, the judge could hear the officer's side of the story, realize he was being nice ad lay a even bigger smack down.

danny87 02-22-2009 05:20 PM

the thing is that, from what i gather i'm getting my licence prohibited because of the 12hr suspension NOT because of the ticket (containing 3 pts). So theres no point in disputing the ticket because i'm still gonna get my licence prohibited.
