Buying Used Rims From The States Was wondering if im buying rims from a private seller, am i able to bring it back to vancouver? Am I gonna get charged anything? |
You definitely have to declare it, but whether or not you have to pay taxes is up to the discretion of the officer you deal with. |
whats the % that i have to pay? |
Duty + GST + PST 5 + 5 + 7? |

have your private seller write up an invoice for the wheels if you are paying by paypal, print off the receipt of the payment for extra support i bought a set of used wheels from the states from a private seller - the customs officer just looked @ the receipt, wrote up a slip and off I went to pay it off. if you had to pay for shipping, make sure that shipping costs are indicated as well, b/c many customs officers would take off the shipping costs while calculating duties + taxes. |
so in total im paying 6.1%. So say if they cost $2000 it would be around 120 in total i would need to pay? |
No you have to pay total 18.1% so 362 in taxes.. depending on your currency. Quote:

just drive down there with shitty tires and throw your new rims on down there and drive back up |

write a lower value on the wheels if you want - as long as the customs officer thinks its reasonable they wouldnt care i wrote 950usd for 18" volk ce28s (used) with brand new tires. |
I wanted to buy some Honda HFP wheels from the States, but after shipping, exchange, duty, and taxes the costs really add up. Ended up buying a set of aftermarket wheels locally. |
