Monopod? Which 3 aluminum monopods below do you people recommend? I do have an idea, but what are your thoughts/opinions. - Compact Monopod 680B (min length: 51cm | max height: 154cm | weight: 0.83kg | max load: 10kg | 4 sections) - Professional Monopod 681B (min length: 67cm | max height: 161cm | weight: 0.78kg | max load: 12kg | 3 sections) - Monopod 679B (min length: 64cm | max height: 162cm | weight: 0.6kg | max load: 10kg | 3 sections) I'm not interested in carbon fibre. Thanks |
I use the 681B with a 486RC2 ballhead. I find it to be a really good combo, and being a 3-section monopod, I find it easy and quick to fully extend and use. |
Wow...why is the shortest one the heaviest? I'd go with the 679B, as it might be the best height for you and is the lightest of the three. Why no carbon fibre? Is it a price issue? How about a Magfibre one? I just bought a carbon fibre tripod, and the weight difference between an aluminum one is quite noticeable. |
jason i need a tripod, can you hook me up :D |
I have a Manfrotto carbon fibre tripod. The Manfrotto carbon fibre monopod supports less load. It's 200grams lighter than aluminum. Sure, carbon fibre is rigid and dampens. But it does not justify 3x the cost of aluminum. Nevertheless, it justifys the tripod. The tubes diameter on the 679B is smaller than 680B and 681B. Is it a big deal besides less load? "Wow...why is the shortest one the heaviest?" My assumption is being a 4 section monopod, the rest are 3 sections. |
i've got a 679B, havent used it all that much but when i do it works great? |
I have the 680B, I wanted to smaller compacted size, the others just seemed too long to strap to my bag and walk around with. |
thanks. |
