pulstar.com *a spark of genius* http://pulstar.com/index.htm Saw the add in import tuner, read the site, too good to be true, or just another gimmick? 24.95usd/per unit is pricey. discuss? |
i think i saw it on youtube, they tested it with a v8 car and dyno'ed it and they gain a lil bit of horsepower....... |
It's been around for a while now. I think the product is something similar to a sham wow. It's sold as a miracle product, but it's really just a spark plug. You're not going to get 10 wheel horse or anything. |
It's shamwow plugs. Superstreet put a set on a IS250 gained like 1.7bhp. that's 6 plugs so that's a lot of money for 1.7bhp. Less gain than a drop in air filter. |
Background info: I'm a licenced automotive tech. Been in the field for about 8 years now. I'm the manager of a shop in downtown. My 2 cents: It's a gimmick. Your air, fuel mixture takes, let's say 15,000 volts to ignite. Your coil will only use 15,000 volts to ignite the mixture. If you've got copper plugs, iridiums or these PulsePlugs, the coil will still only use 15,000 volts to ignite the mixture. don't waste your money. Certain cars work better on copper plugs. certain cars work better on iridium plugs. I've seen some cars that start to misfire if the wrong plugs are in. (even if you upgrade to a platinum) My suggestion, figure out what plugs are supposed to work with your car and stick with them. |

The coil will simply produce the voltage it's designed to produce. Whether there's a plug at the end of the wire or not, or what type of plug it is, or what the tip of the plug is immersed in, doesn't matter to the coil - it will have the same potential at its terminal either way. Quote:

Too lazy to look for the link off my itouch.. but some guy on ziptied tried it on his 350z track car. Gained like 11? hp. The plugs basically lean out the mixture, so without any afc, you won't gain shit. |
How the fuck do PLUGS "lean out the mixture"?? |
I rather buy this http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/plush/9fc6/ |
I'm an electrician... and I'm taking a pretty hard core electronics course at the moment... I can tell you... it's bullshit. 100% garbage. First off.. if it worked, cars would come with them stock. Same with the tornado, fuel chips, free hp, etc... the car manufacturers would be all over this... but they just don't work. (There's a sucker born every minute... which is how people make money off crap like this). Secondly... a capacitor stores charge... in a pulsing DC circuit (which is what an ignition circuit is) it won't do shit - you can't make more power than you're putting into it... the ignition system only puts in what the plug uses... so this can't increase the voltage output. Besides... if the spark was that intense.. you'd burn up the plugs in no time. |

He put them in, fixed his tune, made power. http://www.sg-motorsport.com/ He goes under the name Sasha Holy Fuck on ziptied. |
^ what you mean is installed these plugs, and proceeded to lean out the mixture by means of an aftermarket engine management software. I see where this is coming there is a chance that the lean mixture doesn't burn properly at lower spark area/spread, causing misfire. hence with these plugs (I'm assuming that they have a larger gap than conventional plug) the chances of misfire is lowered and hence the owner can lean out the mixture a little bit more to make a little bit more power. but that's only coz the owner was playing it safe before.... It's highly unlikely that an improper mixture burns now with these plugs that didn't burn with the regular plugs before.... Coz a small portion of the mixture ignites and that automatically goes to the rest of the cylinder. |
