This box carries HDMI 1.3 connection and
it will send audio pass through to Reciever for doing DTS-HD / Dolby TrueHD Audio.
It also plays whole lot HD Video files. Includes Blu-Ray files.
You can also connect a external Blu-Ray or DVD Drive by using USB. It plays blu-ray and DVD discs.
Up to 1TB HardDrive can also be installed in this box for media storage.

can i hook this up to the tv by itself and play blu ray?
or do i have to go thru the cpu?

It doesn't need to go thru computer.
You can have a 3.5 HDD or 2.5 HDD installed inside this Media Box.
Store whatever the HD video files you want in here.
Just simply hook it up with your TV.
It plays right the way. Just like a HD Player.
For example, MKV,WMV,MOV,mt2s,...etc. files ~
Put in there, Hook this HD Media play up with your TV by using HDMI cable, it plays onto your TV.
If you want to play Blu-Ray Disc, You will have to get a USB external Blu-Ray Drive and hook it up with USB cable.
If you download Blu-Ray Rip, all you need is the mt2s file from Blu-Ray rip, the box will play it without any hassle.
This HD Media Box is for people who doesnt want to build HTPC for the TV.
They can simply have this HD media box, play most HD Video files on your TV.

this thing is pretty sweet if you dont want to spend the extra money on a PS3...
and even better in that it supports some files that the PS3 doesnt (.MKV for one...not sure about the others)
