I test drove one of those a few months ago...I really liked it. And since it seems that they haven't held their value that well you can pick one up for cheap-ish.

make sure you get a nice BOV!

DavidNguyen 03-02-2009 01:29 PM

racerman88 03-02-2009 04:47 PM

sirensong 03-03-2009 03:50 PM

Anyone know where i can get a boost leak test done or buy a tester?

TOPEC 03-03-2009 05:49 PM

arent they straight pipes from the factory? if i remember right they have no mufflers?

Govenator 03-03-2009 06:07 PM

srt-4's are sweet, but you will encounter tranny problems soon if it hasnt been fixed yet. Also the stock clutch sucks and hopefully was replaced allready. A stock srt-4 will boost anywhere from 12-15 depending on weather conditions. Lastly get a catch can on that thing, the little neon loves oil blow by!

What goes on the tranny?

And i dont mind the clutch at all, not mooshy like the Prelude clutch was.

Sweet car, the only thing I don't like about them was the interior quality (but I've only been in base model neons of the same era). SRT-4's are F-ING LOUD with aftermarket exhausts.

I remember reading something about that. That's actually true?

The only other thing that really stands out in my mind was something to do with the climate controls.

*I think* when I had the fan on full, and on defrost, I literally could not twist the vent "changer knob" off of defrost, to another position. I actually had to turn off the fan, turn the directional knob, then turn the fan back on.

Make sense?

Don't quote me on this but if it's anything like the Caliber SRT4, max boost is X-psi at certain times that depend on engine temp, altitude and outside temp, but the ECU will compensate for less than ideal situations and boost the psi up a bunch to compensate (so instead of 8 it goes up to 14... not sure those numbers are right but it's an example) for the heat soak loss and the like.

should get a turbo timer

that car gets freaking hot

yangwenli 03-04-2009 03:04 AM

does it have power window for the back seats

sirensong 03-04-2009 07:18 PM

Yes it has roll down back windows :-P Weight saver hahaha

Lomac, yes it does have variable boost based on conditions. But ive talked to other SRT owners and all seem to concur that my boost loss is beyond normal parameters. Doing a leak test soon, hopefully thats all it is.
