I personally would buy a different SUV. Yes it is manufactured by Ford, and one of my friends bought it thinking it was a Mazda (whatever, no big deal). But stupid little things keep breaking on it, he's had it in for service countless times... If you're dead set on it, just buy the Ford Escape version. It's depreciated quicker because of the name - same car, less money for you.

I would also look at the Nissan X-Trail.

Working at a Mazda dealership, I can tell you that I HATE that year/generation of Tribute/Escape. The seats, the way it drives, the fucking everything. Just doesn't feel like a good car in all senses. That's just my opinion on it, go drive 'em for yourself to see what you think.

Ford Escape/ Mazda Tribute pre 2005 are not that good. If you want a decent one, 05 and up is better.. the previous gen has bad seats, uses more has and is louder, rougher and more coarse. The 05's have better safety ratings too.. but the same could be said about any car.

its a POS... my friend had one... and stuff always seemed to malfunction constantly... so he sold it and got a crv... and hes happy ever since! no complaints!
