New Xbox or Playstation console coming ?
 

Xbox was released on November 15, 2001
Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005
For XBOX 1st gen and 2nd gen have 4 years time in between.

Playstation 2 was released on October 26, 2000
Playstation 3 was released on November 11, 2006
For Playstation, there is 6 years time in between.

next gen Playstation won't be out before 2012, i doubt xbox will have something new within the next 2 yrs either

A few years for both. I believe both companies said that a new system would be pointless because they are pretty much maxed out right now. The only console that needs an upgrade is the wii.

no reason for wii to upgrade, its still selling quick, PS2 still havn't reach end of life. even the old xbox is just finally not supported anymore.

don't expect a new console anytime soon. sony and microsoft are laying off thousands of workers in many different fields. this is due to the failing economy everywhere. also releasing a new console (which would could probably around $500) when the economy is so poor is almost ensuring a less than mediocre sale.

I swear i could of read somewere that they were releasing a new wii within 2 years.

the wii might be more believable, i mean the wii had booming success even while lacking a bunch of features
but the title was about xbox or playstation

I heard on News1130 last month that Microsoft announced they were focusing on getting better games for the Xbox 360 instead of developing a new console

the xbox 720 is coming out in 2011

I read an article recently saying something like 10 years for the next systems

yea theres nothing wrong with PS3 or 360 that they need to upgrade. Just more new releases would be nice.

there have been rumors that the next gen systems will be very similar to the current gen stuff. but with just faster upgrade to the existing architecture. so PS4 will probably be a much faster CELL with more SPU, a more up to date video card, more and faster ram, SSD
i guess we won't see such a big jump as in PSone -> PS2 -> PS3
