	   | Where can I buy a cow heart?

Just wondering where I can pick these up? For cooking, not science class.Should I just ask at the meat counter in a regular supermarket? Or is there a good butcher around to talk to?

 Thanks.

I believe Glenwood Meats in Langford handles complete animals. They may have something for you.
What the hell do you make with cow's heart though?

Fairways usually has a larger vaiety of meats than Thifty's, Save-on, or Safeway. However, I worked there years ago and uhh... I don't buy meat there.

 | Thanks, I'll check it out. You can do a bunch with the heart. It's really lean and tough, so you can treat it like chuck, or bake it like a chicken.

Anyways, in spite of the Fairways warning, I've discovered they sell cow hearts all the time like anything else..For $4.40/kg! So cheap, for such lean meat, how can I say no?

Actually this seems like a really good idea. So it tastes like lean beef or what?

Exactly, I just cooked one up by this recipe: http://www.recipezaar.com/Braised-Beef-Heart-143249 and it is amazing. The meat is incredibly tender, though strange to look at since there's really no grain, and the sauce is very tasty.
I'm going to make this many more times in the future, but I think some red wine and mushrooms will be going into the sauce, for my own taste.

I should add, when I first saw them at Fairway there were a dozen, today I grabbed the last two, not sure how often they stock up.
