pictures sent. $2,200 firm without the steering set up (MOMO Tuner + NRG QR + EK hub + Extention) |
Horrible seller! Buyer Beware. First off, this guy flakes on you everytime you try to setup a test drive of the vehicle. Days that we had set up a viewing time, he would cancel on the day of, or postpone for later. This happened from the first time I went to view the car. I was supposed to meet him today at Coquitlam Center @ 10:00am. NO SHOW, NO PICKING UP HIS PHONE. Couple of bad things about the car: - Strange mileage, but definately is MORE than 180,000km - Throwout bearing and input shaft bearing toast - OUT OF PROVINCE Next time you're trying to sell a car, actually meet your potential buyers. Edit: The pictures he sent out I found out are NOT pictures of the car he is selling. It is his friends car. |
wierd, he had excellent communication with me and was more punctual than i was when i went to check out his car, and he was okay with me seeing it on seperate occasions to bring different friends (in body and mech) for inspection... and if he'd flaked on you on the test drive, how do you know the throwout and shaft are toast? |
If you DID bring it to a mechanic for inspection, I'm suprised you dont know about the throwout bearing/input shaft bearing problem. You can clearly hear the grinding when the car is idling, clutch out. Better go get another mechanic if he couldn't even tell you these couple of problems. Not to mention the car's oil pan is leaking, valve cover gasket leaking, clutch and brake fluid are disgustingly dirty. |
i wasnt contesting the condition of the car. i was contesting you're assessment of his person. to me he was straight up, honest, and punctual. i am not tryin to beef you, or promote him, all im trying to do is show that there are other views to him other than "horrible seller". like perhaps when you guys were suppose to meet an emergency came up? anyways im done. i'd rather not get points over this. free bump and good luck with the sale |
Right... the seller told me the timing belt and water pump were done. But when my friend asked his "mechanic friend" whom he bought it off of, he said he only changed things like the air filter and oil. That is because his friend is only an apprentice. Funny how you bring up my notes on the cars condition... I highly doubt you even took a look at the car. If an emergency did come up, it doesnt explain why this seller didnt pick up his phone, or call me later that day to apologise for wasting my time or to even set up a later date. Even an email would suffice if he didnt want to lose face and do it impersonally. |
Deepstriker, I'm truly sorry for not showing up for the meet. I have no excuse than to apologize. Although I have not shown up for the meeting, I believe I have done everything and answered all of your questions requested. I have not done anything suspicious nor have I lied. I even brought the previous owner for you to know the car better because he knew the car much better as I've rarely driven the car. I encouraged you to take the VIN number to know the history of the car as well. Yes, one mistake can ruin a whole reputation, but the way you are responding isn't fair to where I stand. I have been honest with all 'potential' buyers. It is a $2,500 car. It is cheap. People come to see the car knowing these problems. I cannot answer all the problems it has. But I do know the car must have some problems although it is running well. It is a 13+ year old car. The picture is the car I am selling. The car you are assuming is my other friend's red 00' EK. Please do not make assumption or accusation of the car if you are not aware 100%. And if you are going to judge the car, please bring a licensed bodyman or a mechanic like HC^2 did. Rather than just any friends who 'know' about cars. Do not criticize my friend for being 'only' an apprentice. I did not 'buy' him off. I'm disgustingly offended by your comment above. However, I would like to apologize for not showing up without a notice. |
not trying to ruin your thread but the original post was really misleading, with or without purpose only u know. If your friend is only an apprentice, then he is not yet a mechanic. Telling the truth will help you sell your car faster. For example (which this is not trying to criticize): dunno if your friend bought the car new, but "bought the car used from a friend who is a mechanic apprentice" might sound better. Rephrasing your wording will help to clear up a lot of confusion like deepstriker might have? a lot of "cosmestic damage" could be more than just u think because someone tried to cover up his nasty repair, or the owner just didn't pay for the whole damage up front! not trying to pick up a call at the promised meeting time, doesn't Deepstriker can simply just post his review at seller / buyer rating section? Too bad hwoonh but i think you will be pissed if someone tells you he wants your car but you never heard from him again while u 2 have a time to do the transaction at the autoplan agent. I think no matter how emergency you were in ~ unless it's as bad as you passed out and was taken to hosiptal and you have absolutely no way to tell the "buyer", then i guess anyone will easily take your apology. I was once looking for a EK Shell and i read your thread awhile back, but too bad I dun like red, or else I could probably vouch you up for the car's condition (i am licensed mechanic)... all in all, car is only $2500, some EG is probably asking for as much! Depends on the extra work the car might need, it shouldn't be too hard to sell! just make sure u do meet up with ppl at the agreed time lol good luck with your sale! |
You did not even call me, or even send an email to apologise. So I find my comments above perfectly acceptable. If a moderator sees otherwise, then I apologise. But I definately will not retract my statements. Till this day the only "apology" I have heard is on RevScene right in your reply to my comments. I know the car is cheap, but there are more problems than you told me through email. You simply state that "bearings were toast" and yet you didnt know which ones. I even called tech's at Surrey Honda to confirm the problems and how much it would cost to fix. Licenced bodymen and mechanics that HC^2 brought? HOW THE FUCK DO THEY NOT KNOW THAT A THROWOUT BEARING AND INPUTSHAFT BEARING ARE TOAST? LOL. I dont see how any of the problems I stated above are false, or are you simply just bitching back because you dont like my critisism with the way you are selling the car? Sorry to say but the pictures you send me have some trims painted, and a lip on the front and hatch. The car you showed me does not have either of these items. I advise any potential buyers to check this twice. Anyone who is mechanically inclined should be able to spot these problems right away. Friends who own similar cars can also compare the two and spot things that are not in the norm. From the sounds of it, you are not very mechanically inclined yourself, so I would keep my mouth shut if I were you. What exactly was so offensive? Your friend was the one who actually knew how to answer my questions. You and him said different things and I am more likely to believe him as you said he was the one that took care of your car. Nothing wrong with doing minor things like changing the oil, but if he says he didnt change the timing belt or water pump then I trust him more than you. After I did check the VIN and got some more information on the car, it turns out it was out of province and according to AirCare records the mileage on the car is questionable. If anyone wants to check themselves, the VIN is: 2HGEJ6328TH007847, 1996 Civic DX. Go feel free and check the history, that way potential buyers dont need to question if I'm right or wrong. They can see for themselves. |
Deepstriker, First of all, I did admit I am not mechanically inclined. Thus, I brought the previous owner, who is mechanically inclined, to explain as much as he can. I tried my best to provide you and also the previous potential buyers all the information I can get. I have encouraged all previous viewers to take multiple location VIN, pictures of the rust and to test drive. I don't know how to explain this matter any further without accusing you of being an idiot. Questions regarding on the car were answered to my best knowledge. They may have been misinformed. That is why I brought the previous owner to satisfy your questions. And you were satisfied with the answers from the previous owner, according to your reply. Do you see that I am not trying to lie my way into selling this car? I have admitted my mislead information by providing the correct answer from the previous owner. The car is priced at below the market value. The price, $2,500 for this civic reflects the condition of the car and I have mentioned the flaws of the car as well. It's not a perfect car. It is priced low for that reason and also I need to get rid of it for some room. It could use some work, but it is running fine. I am not selling a crooked car. So, please, stop with the capital letters and cursing. It is childish. If you would like to rant any further, please give me a call at anytime. I'd be happy to have a chat with you. Also, are you aware of 96-98 and 99-00 models? The car in the picture is the car I am selling. Are you really accusing of a different car from the lip and the side mouldings? Yes, it is the same car. I welcomed viewers to see the car first hand rather than from the picture because those were the only ones I've had. As I've mentioned, If you would like to talk about what went wrong, please give me a call. Please don't accuse of something in public without discussing it without the owner. I actually laughed at how you weren't able to distinguish between 96-98, 99-00 model. |
Please read my original post, I noted things potential buyers should know. I dont see that as a threat saying that you are a liar and trying to sell someone a peice of shit, afterall wasn't I a potential buyer? I believe you should quit while ahead. You're really bitching about things that were my point of view about you as a seller. If you really are trying to be honest, I dont see how any of my comments above are irrelevant to a buyer getting the vehicle. I'm simply noting the extra work that needs to be done to get it in a proper mechanical condition. To which you are failing to tell potential buyers. If someone brought a mechanic or anyone mechanical inclined, these are things to be spotted right away. So are you trying to say that I shouldn't post these problems and let buyers show up and be dissapointed? That doesn't sound very straight forward to me. I'm not ranting, this is very contructive criticism as a previous potential buyer. Things that everyone should know about before purchasing the car. It just so happened that you flaked and acted like an asshole, so I chose not to deal with you anymore. Laugh all you want because bottom line is the car for sale has questionable history. As a public forum, you should know that word gets around. You said you would get back to me about the mileage on the vehicle, but never did. And at that point is when you flaked out the next day when we were setup to view the car. |
I should be furious at this point. However, thank you for showing interest in the car and I apologize for any confusion I've created. Hope you'll find a good vehicle for your need. |
so what is the actual mileage on the car? |
^ |
Sorry about the late reply, As Deepstriker helped me check the VIN and and AirCare, it was recorded as 180,xxxkm from 4 years ago. This car was a secondary car for the previous owner and to myself as well, and I have rarely driven this car(Had 4-5 months of insurance, but only drove for less than a month due to being in a foreign country) I am estimating that it should be well below 250,000km. Due to misled information on the car, editing will be done shortly. |

oh for gods sake deepstriker ,shutup and let him sell his car. geez he already apologized and you just cant let it go. |
