Seattle Man Says He's The Victim Of Parking Rage

Darren Dedo Q13 FOX News

February 26, 2009

A Seattle man says he was threatened over his green mode of transportation. Denis Lyons says where he parks his motor scooter seems to have set off a fire-storm.

Lyons told Q13 Fox News he parks is Vespa motors scooter on a tight Capitol Hill street in front of his apartment building. But, recently someone pinned a very nasty note to the seat of his scooter that read.

"You greener than sanctimonious retard, you take up an entire car parking spot with your scooter again and you'll have to pay for a new tire."

Denis says he's just trying to do his part by using a green mode of transportation that doesn't burn up a lot of gas and protects the environment.

"I'm frustrated because I actually sold my car and bought the Vespa to get better gas mileage and I feel like I'm not talking up very much space on the planet to be green," said Lyons.

Apparently one of his neighbors isn't seeing green but red with anger over where Lyons has to park his two wheeled mobile and pinned their rage to his seat.

"For someone to take the time to go into their home and type out a note and put it on my scooter I don't understand what's wrong with them," said Lyons.

According to Lyons he believes the same person has left him two nasty notes.

"I think it's somebody on my block because it happened twice," said Lyons.

In a green conscious city like Seattle, Lyons is surprised someone would try to threaten him into parking his Vespa elsewhere. But, he can't because his apartment building doesn't have parking.

Although, Lyons says he won't be intimidated. He actually would like to have a chat with the person leaving him the messages.

"I think I would ask the person to take a ride with me on my scooter and see how much fun it is and maybe that person would get rid of their car too," said Lyons.

Denis contacted the Police because he was concerned the person who wrote the note might come back and slash his tires. As of right now Police do not have any suspects. If the person continues to put notes on the scooter they could face possible harassment charges.
I can't find the video clip anywhere. The guy parks his scooter in a full size parking space. But yeah, somebody typed up a note, printed it, and pinned it to his seat. Twice.

The Vespa owner is a moron. Enough said. What a way to make all scooterists look like a bunch of fucktards. :lol

Common sense dictates you'd piss a lot of people off by taking up a car spot if there are lots of out-of-the way spots you could park it. It's really not much different from taking up two stalls with one car.

You'd have to be retarded to not expect that you'll piss someone off.

Clearly then, the guy is somewhat retarded.

This guy should really park on the side walk. he does sound like a dandy saying stuff like "I think I would ask the person to take a ride with me on my scooter and see how much fun it is and maybe that person would get rid of their car too," "And we can ride over rainbows." Just park on the curb

I could understand a sportbike or a hog because they are really big in comparison and much harder to back out or turn around, but a fucking scooter???

I don't think so. It should be parked up against the wall or in the corner of the lot. It does not need to take up a space that a car or truck could use for parking.

There are no provisions for scooters unfortunately. If you were to park it on the sidewalk or "illegally" somewhere, there is a very good chance you'll get a ticket hence why the guy is occupying an entire space. I'm on my 4th scooter and trust me, parking is a real pain in the ass sometimes.

I used to think that it was okay for me to park in a corner away from cars to save space when I used to ride my scooter to work. The security guys kept on ticketing me saying how I had to take up a parking spot. So what are you supposed to do then? Tell them to shove it up their ass?

Durrann1984 03-07-2009 01:47 AM

the guy has no choice to park anywhere else

He's a moron for parking in a parking space? What else is he supposed to do, chain it to a bike rack?

So what if you can fit 4 scooters in 1 spot. He has 1 vehicle, he should be able to part in spots intended for 1 vehicle.

I'd be more pissed at the morons who can't park, and take up 2 spaces with their cars.
