places that buy old computer

I have a computer laying around thats about 3 years old with unknown spec. Where can I sell this off for a bit of cash that's not a pawn shop?

DragonChi 03-07-2009 08:24 AM

if you can't find a place that'll buy it, you might as well recycle it @ encorp.ca

lilaznviper 03-07-2009 10:51 AM

mite as well recycle it or give it to CFS

icemiko 03-07-2009 06:39 PM

craigslist

Donate it to FreeGeek. They fix it up and give it to less privileged people.

kind of hard, you might only end up with some dustballs after everybody had their share.

You can try CL and all those classified places. You probably won't have many buyers though, and those that do will probably lowball you to a point where it's just not worth the hassle.

I donated all my old stuff to FreeGeek and save myself the hassle of people coming over and picking through my stuff. At least that way, I know it's being used by those less fortunate than myself, or being disposed of in an environmentally responsible way.

There aren't any places that buy old computers because there is next to no value in them.

JLC 03-09-2009 02:14 PM

3+ yr old computer, its probably a decent machine that will be just fine for word processing and internet surfing...

However its probably not worth much at all these days...

For what you can get for it you might as well donate it to a good cause or give it to someone in your family who can put it to good use...

westcoastgsr 03-09-2009 10:56 PM

Dont go to encorp they charge a fee. I think thats the most stupid thing, I want to recycle but you want to charge me?? I rather chuck it in a dumpster for free, I ended putting it on craigslist for free.

The link above is the fee you pay when you buy the item at the store (i.e. Future Shop). Encorp charges you nothing when you drop things off.
