auto meter boost guage

How are the accuracy of the AutoMeter boost gauge with vacuum? How are AutoMeter rated in general? Are they reliable (rice?)?

Do they fit in gauge pods?
Anyone know anything about them? I don't think many JDM tuners use them tho...

JDM nuthuggers don't use them because they are not JDM simple as that. I have always used Autometer and they have worked fine for me. They match on the gauge what the laptop is reading for boost. They fit fine in pods as well I have done a few different pods and they have all worked fine.

The quality of Autometer gauges vary depending on who you talk to. I've never had a problem with any single one I've owned and used, yet I know others who have had to replace the same gauge two or three times before they get one that works properly. Like Berz said, I've never noticed any variation of numbers between what the laptop and gauge says. If there's a difference, it's minuscule.

As for if they're rice, well... provided you're using them because you need them (ie: running a vacuum/boost gauge just for the looks of things), they aren't rice. I personally think someone of them appear rice'ish, but that's a personal preference. I currently run both the Cobalt and Cobalt Digital series (used to have Sportcomp II) and feel they look classy enough that it doesn't add that ricer look.

I have the Colbalt series as well, and have no problems.

I will probably be getting a full setup of the Nexus gauges soon... baller.

Rice or not, some gauges work better than others.
