| sub/amp wiring help!
so i got 2 12" subs. they are 4ohm single coil.and are 600 watts each.for my amp i plan to get the mtx tc4001. according to bestbuy the amp is 1200 watts @ 2 ohms. so if i wire the subs parallel it would make them a 2ohm load and therfore give the subs 600 watts each..right?soo basically is what im planning on doing right?is this the right amp for the subs?and also what kind of wires do i use for connecting them..cuz i heard thers like different kinds of gauges for wires...im a complete noob at this btw

It's only 400 watts, real time! You are correct in looking for a 2 ohm stable amp with lots of wattage. You just need to shop somewhere else...like my shop!

I can try to help, but I need to know what your budget will be.

Best Buy does not sell MTX, Future Shop does.
However, I would suggest you buy a higher RMS amp for your subs. Running those subs at full potential with no distortion will be your ultimate bet. Remember, even if that MTX max's out at 1200 or 1400 watts, that probably full distortion and definately ruin your subs.
Then again, just make sure the gains are set right, so that your not overloading the subs where you start to hear it pop, that blows em too!
good luck on your search.

We have a used Rockford Fosgate 1001BD 1000 watt amp on consignment that will do what you want to those subs. He wants $300.00
Or we have new amps (Pioneer; Digital Designs) that will also give you the juice, but will cost you $450.00 and up.
