Is turbo timing necessary for water cooled turbos?

Does anyone have a cut diagram of a Garrett turbocharger? I want to see where the oil and water route are located.

Turbo timing isn't even really necessary for non water cooled turbo's so long as your not boosting the shit out of it and then turning your car off right after. I've never used one and my turbo's have been fine. By the time you get around to turning your car off its usually been at least a minute since you were boosting anyways so what's another 2 mins of idling really going to accomplish?

I agree with Berz, turbo timers are just another useless ricer accessory.

I wouldnt say they are useless. Regardless if your boosting or not, your turbo is always spinning, always creating heat, always circulating oil. Even if you arent boositng, letting it idle for ~30 seconds is always a good idea.

With watercooled turbos, you dont have to let it idle for as long, but generally a turbo timer would still be a good idea, unless you have time on your hands. Personally im always rushing, so i invested in a turbo timer.

Ive seen water/oil cooled turbos, been boosted hard, then turned off pretty much right away. Guess what needs a rebuild now? The owner was not aware of the whole, kicking the crap out of your car then turning it off right away is bad for the turbo..

As long as you have a good setup as far as the coolant lines go, so the coolant is flowing good through tthe turbo and you are running syn. oil you can usually just park and shut it down. just don't boost for a minute or so before you park. Garretts liquid cooled turbos apperently "don't need cool down time" (within reason)

Absolutely useless unless you are lazy and can't wait a few seconds for your car to cool down. They are useful only for convenience, nothing else.
