Lets see your Civic coupes! 56k stay away I'll start off with my introduction and my car. My name is Scott, I live in Edmonton, Alberta and I just started my second month of my 1st year as an Automotive technician at a local Honda dealership. My car is a 1995 Civic Si, which I purchased in November of 2007 and began modding in March of 2008. This was my first car, in fact when I began modding it I still only had my learners license haha. Anyways heres some of the interesting stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqSwmHb6pYU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5kdimvIG1o These two videos are just a quick summary of the hundreds of photos I've taken of my project. I'll try to list some of the basics that I've done. Nice Frankenstein build. I'm surprised at how clean the motor parts looked in the pictures! |
Painting the valve cover to match the wheels was a nice touch. Was it a huge pain in the ass to do the rear brake conversion? I'm thinking I might get on that, I've put it off long enough, lol. Nice civic  |
nice mods =) very nice |
very clean work! |
Thanks for all the comments guys, its much appreciated! Spoon_Fed, the brake conversion is actually very straightforward. If you can get yourself the entire rear trailing arm assembly from any 94-01 integra or 92-00 civic, its literally a direct replacement. Just unbolt the old trailing arm, bolt in the new one. Once that is done, you'll need to acquire the brake hoses to go from your OEM hardlines in each wheel well to the caliper (the end of the hose is different between a drum brake and the disc brake). This is a good opportunity to replace all your brake hoses with stainless steel braid ones. You'll also need the appropriate e-brake cables, for an EG civic these would be from a 99-00 Si/SiR. After that you need a 40/40 brake proportioning valve (located on your firewall amongst the mess of hardlines, its the "heart" if you will) from a 90-93 integra that has rear discs. This is a definite must for the conversion, if you run the stock brake prop valve, the rear brakes get too much pressure and they will overheat and seize (dangerous!). NOTE: There are 2 types of 40.40 prop valve, one is the "H" type which is going to be the direct replacement, the other valve type is a bit different and requires re-bending and re-flaring your hardlines-- a big mess, save yourself the trouble and get the "H" type valve. And lastly, this is not a NECESSARY component for the conversion but it does make the brakes much more responsive and powerful, is to replace the OEM 7/8ths brake master cylinder with a slightly larger 15/16ths master cylinder. The direct bolt on replacement can be found in a '89-'91 Civic 4dr with discs. A small update on my build, I finally ordered up some SRP 81.5mm bore 9.0:1 compression pistons yesterday. So the block should be getting sent for honing/boring as soon as they get here, and then I can re-assemble the block and head. The trans is waiting for an LSD before it all goes back into the car. |
Old pic of my coupe before i turned it back to stock and sold it :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...9/IMG_0994.jpg it was the ultimate sleeper though before i pulled the motor out and put a stock one back in: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...9/IMG_1704.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...9/IMG_1706.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...9/IMG_1705.jpg |
