32bit XP to 64bit Vista how would i go about this process?? Some forums say, clean install, some say you can overwrite by buying from Microsoft? Someone got answers? |
clean install is the best |
I did clean install. |
you can't upgrade 32bit XP to 64bit Vista anyways |
xp 32 > vista 32 can be done with upgrade xp 32 > vista 64 requires clean install |
Stick with XP. I have both Vista 32 and 64 ultimate that I didnt even bother upgrading to (legit versions too). Waiting for Windows 7 to switch over. |
Clean install is your only option. |
Yeah, I've went back to XP as well. I have Vista on my laptop only and I hate it. I've been testing the public Windows 7 beta and it's actually quite fast. |
Windows 7 is no faster than Vista on a modern desktop ... Laptop, it's certainly quicker, mainly because it doesn't access the hard drive as much, which is a major weak point of laptops. Of course, modifying the background programs and services can work wonders for Vista, too. |

To answer, like everyone else, clean install would have to be the way to go. Just remember to grab the service packs and security patches. |
