today i did something i thought i would never do...

I bought a set of tires from Cambodian Tire.

they are the General Exclaim UHP (Ultra high Performance) 195 /55 / 15
http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires..._uhp_ci2_l.jpg
General is now owned by Continental

$120 each and 50% off the 2nd tire (so $25% off total really.)

mounted/balanced and tax in came out to $530 or so. minus the $124 in Cambodian Tire $ i had, $400 total :D

i read some positive reviews and for the $ i couldnt resist.

anyone else try these? i just put them on and havn't even driven the car yet lol:haha:

Ive read good things about them as well, but for the size I was looking for, I couldnt afford them

Shiet, Turbo E. Everytime I see you do something to your car, it's to a new extreme. :D

I ran those tires for quite some time, they have a nice sticky compound but at the expense of tire wear. They stretch nice though.

Price wise its a little high, I used to pick up 225/40/17s from KalTire for 110/tire....wierd that Crappy Tire charges that much for 15s.

Good tire though, awesome bang for buck. If you drive hard on them though theyll wear.

so first ride in the rain this morning was pretty good. they grip really well on wert roads. i tried some hard semi launches and they stuck pretty well minimal spin on wet. sidewalls seem a tad mushy. not super quiet but i was running snows before, so its a lot quieter.

steering does not seem as crisp, but could be from the wet road and newness of tires.

for the $ so far, i cant complain.

wow $124 in cdn tire money?

how did you get so much?

joquio 03-19-2009 01:51 AM

I had them of my car for about 8 months...then 2 tires blow/exploded from driving over a curb.....
They slip when cornering hard.... but otherwise not bad for the money.... I hate their tread pattern though.....kinda ugly

I got 2 new Kumho SPT to replace the blown ones and I like them sooo much more and looks way better too

The tread pattern on these tires is what makes them special. The soft compound plus tread design makes them a really good tire in the wet.
Most of the complaints about this tire that I have read was the soft side wall leading to sloppy turn-in feel, and how noisy they are when at the limits.

But shouldn't this thread be in tire tech instead of suspension?

moved

my credit card gives me CT $ on any purchase. I spend a lot :p

after a certain age you will not care about what the bottom of your shoes look like because no one will ever see them.

thus far they have been excellent in the rain and puddles

which CT u went too? i tried to get some tires but most of the stores are sold out of the common sizes
