WAKE UP PPL |
Because the past 100 years has been the industrial revolution where humans have been producing more carbon emissions.
Tests have been done with glacier samples that goes hundreds of thousands of years back to collect temp and co2 samples. To see the levels back then.

Exactly
FACTS THAT YOU ARE IGNORING http://www.climatecrisis.net/ http://video.google.ca/videoplay?doc...nvenient+truth
DENY THOSE FACTS! BITCH
Now im sure your going to respond with "fat cats want you to belive this stuff so we buy up all the green movement technologies and the Gov has another reason for taxing us". But answer me this.... what if they are right? what if we are part of the cause of global warming and can either stop it or slow the rate of it down?

Look green line! Green line co2. Green line go up. Temperature stay same.
I see you've brought the glaciers up. Interesting findings, 5dime. Let's analyze the glaciers. Hmmm.. it seems that the glaciers you were talking about indicate that there was more co2 in our atmosphere millions of years ago. That's strange, I don't remember reading about prehistoric cars and factories...

Rainforest destruction, industrial pollution, unnatural co2 emissions = effect on the environment.
That's a fact, you can't add something to the equation and expect it to still balance out.
Earth has a system of checks and balances, eg: plants and trees, once you start fucking around with the environment there's going to be consequences, whether you choose to believe it or not.

btw, whoever chooses to read the bible at its literal level is an idiot.
Consider this: The way we express ourselves through written language has been constantly evolving.
You can't translate and read the bible with the mind of a 21st century person.
EG: "I'm so hungry I could eat a Horse!" will not be interpreted the same way by a person who was living in 50 bc (a very crude example, but I think it delivers the point)
I think the movie Back to the Future sums it up when Doc was worried about Earth's gravitational field because Marty kept on saying "heavy" (a colloquial term in the 80s).

Earth has a system of checks and balances, eg: plants and trees, once you start fucking around with the environment there's going to be consequences, whether you choose to believe it or not. | Pollution does have an effect. But not to the "OMFG WE NEED TO FIX EVERYTHING BEFORE WE GET BURNED TO DEATH BECAUSE THE EARTH IS HEATING UP" effect that many people imply.
It is also a fact that human power alone cannot change the earth's environment fluctuations noticeably within a few hundred years.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, during the Last Glacial Maximum, the world was basically covered in all glaciers. But BEFORE that, the world was a barren, dry land. With that said, there's was and has been HUGE change in temperature before "humans began terrorizing our environment."

Lol,
Why not? we have technology to make weather, we have had nuclear power since the 50's that can eradicate anything and everything on this earth. What makes you think that all the leaps and bounds humans have made over the past 100 years cant effect the worlds environment? Earths environment is very fragile

first off, are any of my graph images working? people are still sold on co2 and global temps rising...
rsx, maybe if we cleared out all the rainforest's in the world. but you're forgetting for every forest we trim down, we set up new ones in its wake. you should spend a few classes in UBC forestry to understand how to safely trim down the forests without affecting its ecoystem. now, because this is RS and im different than most of you, i'm going to explain how this works (ps, tired of using google, just going to use my own words. read a book or search it yourself to get the full low-down on how it works):
Instead of leveling an entire forest, companies just clear out staggered sections of it so animals in the area still have homes to live in. Similar to a checkerboard pattern, rather than clearing out one big square. this also prevents land slides from occuring. companies invest in inexpensive fertilizers to help speed up the process. after a few decades, companies will come back and harvest a bit of the remaining old trees, meanwhile, the trees that they planted prior have grown considerably.
as for the bible, i agree some people took those things too seriously and predicted the end. like wise, some people take a few naturally occurring things too seriously, got their panties in a twist, and thought global warming would really happen... as i remember about predictions made pre-2000, we shouldn't be alive right now and there should be 30c degree winters, etcetc. if you look at the REAL STATS i provided, you may think otherwise.
5dime, society isn't trying to ruin our planet. yes, you're right we have the technology to blow chunks out of the planet up. but there's no need to panic, everythings fine, just let the people that know whats happening worry about it. you forget, if we have the technology to blow it up, we probably have the tech to keep it a livable place. this place aint lollipops and candy, but you don't know what you're talking about until you see the facts yourself.

Wow you ahve no idea what you are talking about. Have you seen the deforestation going on in brazil??? Its called slash and burn. They dont pick certian trees to cut down. They cut down the entire forest! and burn it! and what does that do?? CREATE CO2! What needs co2 to live? tree's. So the more tree's we cut down the less co2 is being used and less oxygen is produced and more co2 is just floating around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation_in_Brazil
The forestry programs you are talking about do happen. Only in certain areas where the terrain is suitable for it and only in certain countries.

co2 levels have dropped over the long term. check my graph, read it slowly and carefully. there were more forests when co2 was its recordable highest than there is today. im done trying to educate you

| National geographic: Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world’s land area, but swaths the size of Panama are lost each and every year.
I'm not talking about regulated logging like in N.America. I'm talking about clear cutting and slash/burning Rain Forests like the one in S.America that act as carbon sinks.
I'm not going to bother going to Jstor and searching up articles for you regarding this topic, because, unless you've been living under a rock, the fact is, we are losing our Rain Forests.
By the way global warming isn't some instant natural force that will result in 30 degree winters. Global warming is a gradual process that disrupt natural weather patterns. IE: some places that don't get snow, snow or increasing frequency and strength of hurricanes/typhoons.
And, because you didn't reply to my earlier comment regarding checks and balances, I'm going to take your non-comment as agreement.
Cheers!
