i love him as an actor but everything he makes is garbage. like cuba gooding jr, or the chick from legally blonde. they can do better, but they just choose to make shit movies for some reason.

Agreed. Personally I think Stathoms best roll was in The Italian Job, but he seems to have the exact same look/roll in every movie he's in so perhaps that's the one thing he's best at doing?
