A lot of nutswinging here. Contrary to the "I made it to ____ in _____ hours" group, you're not in a race.

As others have mentioned, make sure your vehicle is in good running condition.

For the roadtrip itself, always leave ample time. Roadtrips are no fun when you're in a rush. There is a lot to see outside of the lower mainland and give yourself the opportunity to see it all.

Avoid doing anything reckless such as passing over double yellows. People can and do call you in and you'd likely be very easy to pick-up by the police as they'll just wait for you further down the highway.

DO NOT piss off the truckers. They can call the police, or even worse, radio to other truckers. They will team up and block you.

If you are feeling drowsy, do NOT try to stretch it a little further. Especially on very straight roads. You will pass out. Find a rest area and take a quick nap.

If possible, bring a good co-pilot. Conversation can keep you awake and an extra set of eyes can help spot wildlife and po-po.

Drive safe!
