Laptop Help - are these any good?

so,
i'm looking to buy a laptop for as cheap as possible.
my requirements are:
1) good battery life - can run for atleast 3-4hrs without dieing
2) dvd burner drive
3) 3 or more gigs of ram
4) 15-16"
6) total budget tax + shipping inclusive - $800

now, i've found these two laptops dont know which one is better:
1)
http://www.wallmart.ca/wps-portal/st...Id=836&tabId=1

2)
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...8&catid=26955#

Secondly, what is the difference between:
Athalon Dual Core vs Intel Core 2 Duo vs Intel Dual Core

all help is appreciated, and further recommendations are welcome!

Cheers!

athalon dual core - amd chipset
dore 2 duo and dual core - intel chipset

core 2 duo > dual core

you'll need a 9cell battery in order to get 3+ hours of battery life on normal use
dvd burners are pretty standard on all new laptops
get a unit with 2gb ram and buy a 2gb stick to replace one of the two 1gb modules. you'll save money this way

hp and i aren't on good terms. i recommend dell. http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/prod...hs1&l=en&s=dhs

personally I'd get the WalMart one, though it doesn't say how much RAM it has you can use the above tip to upgrade it cheaply if need be.

also did anyone else notice the walmart site was www.waLLmart.ca? wierd.
