Gas smell when starting....HELP pls.!!

I got a 2000 acura EL that produces this burning gas smell when i start it in the morning for a few mins then goes away. Any ideas on what the problem is?? Thanks all!

Does it blow a little blue as well on startup? Could be valve seals.

how does the car run (shaky or smooth)? does it have the check engine light on?

runs smooth and no doesn't have the check engine on...any ideas?...thanks

I still think it could be valve seals... they leak oil into the chamber over a period of time and thats why you get a smell on startup and then it goes away.

what should be done to fix it?...I also noticed a couple of things missing from the engine cover...such as the black rubber cover beside the spark plugs not really sure what thats for as well as one of the bolts to to hold the cover down.

Fixing valve seals is a pain in the ass to be honest and if you don't have to fix I wouldn't. Basically you have disassemble the entire head to replace the seals.

Can't think off hand what the cover your talking about is but as long as nothing is coming out of it... I wouldn't worry about it.
