x2 ive used both the mobil 1 and motul. Mobil 1 is my least favorite oil. Motul is not to bad thats the one i would go for!!

jeffh 03-27-2009 03:56 PM

wheres the amsoil love? i rocked 5w30 in both my integras
boost + 9000rpm and a stock block and both you could eat off to valve cover after a change or 2 of amsoil

problem with some of the motul products is they also sell racing oils, which sure sounds cool, but it doesnt have the detergents you need for a daily driver

read the package to check

Kilinim 03-27-2009 08:25 PM

Hmm, I should start a poll.

One thing I noticed with Motul 8100 10w30 and 300V 10w40, my car got better gas mileage with them. The minute I switched back to Mobil 1 or any other oil, the fuel economy went down.
I am talking about going from 380 a tank to 430-450 a tank on an AP1 S2000.

I've used Mobil 1 and Royal Purple on my old S14

I'm using Motul on my current S14

To be honest, I can't feel a difference in any of them, but as for TRANSMISSION FLUID Motul >>>> Redline

On my G37 I've ran 5W30 Mobile 1 and Royal Purple, I have found the Royal Purple to be superior, before getting the VVEL reprogrammed the Royal Purple made the engine run quieter.

I found some Lucas oil, and I'm going to give that a try my next oil change.

Can anyone share their experience with Eneos Engine Oil ?

I want to hear some feedback since I'm planning to switch to Eneos
currently using Motul.

Nope it was an independent test with a bearing put under load with each oil as the protectant. Then wear was checked and compared between brands. I dug up the article:

http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf

I didn't people took that comparison seriously. :p

Stay away from the 300V unless you plan to change your oil every month. It performs very well under extreme conditions but has very low detergency.

1. Gas mileage increased
2. Ticking Sound Decreased

I switch the oil on regular intervals as I must to keep it under warranty, so I'm sure both have quite a bit of life left before I change it.

godwin 04-15-2009 02:07 AM

Wow those are rather subjective readings.. and can be explained simply with seasonal changes too.

What I am looking for is change in viscosity, insolubable ppm, and amount of zinc (which is part of the additive package). in my book for a lubricant to be "superior" it has to show the viscosity stays constant over the period of time (vs others), and less wear and tear to the internals of the engine. (so things like moly, steel and Al ppm should decrease).

Well I disagree with you, however there is no arguing with you.

Let me just say in April of 08 ticking sound in April of 09 no ticking sound. In July 08 ticking sound, later in Aug 08 no ticking sound.

The only change Mobile 1 to Royal Purple.

Anyone know I can actually get the Motul 8100 or the Mobile 1 locally for a good price?

SumAznGuy 04-19-2009 06:06 PM

You can get Motul from a certain shop in Burnaby who's name is 3 letters and starts with the letter P.
I believe AJ carries it.
I get mine from a shop in Coquitlam.

Mobil 1 can be bought from Crappy Tire, stupidstore, Wal-mart.

pintoBC_3sgte 04-28-2009 09:38 PM

lol from a shop in coquitlam.. one near the ramada?

flipridah17 05-07-2009 07:24 PM
