Spotted the google car today in Abbotsford going towards my building as I was leaving.

It's a red 4 dr cobalt I believe. It has this huge 5-7 foot long pole coming from the middle of the roof of the car and then the 4 cameras. One dude was driving it. I wonder how the system works.. if it automatically takes pictures as he is driving it, or does it manually have to shoot the photos.

I should have thrown him the finger or something haha

The car also has a small google logo on the front doors.

man how do you get hired for a job like that, itd be awesome to just drive around and take pictures of everybody =P

I believe I read that the cameras run on a system with the GPS to take the pictures at certain distances, then I would assume it gets geotagged and compiled once the pictures and data are brought back to the lab.

actually theres 9 cameras total...8 around and 1 fish eye on the top...3 laser scanners... and a gps reciever

that's so awesome! if anyone from japan google street viewed that bridge, they'll know where all their r32's went lol

ot: needless to say im sure japan sent us most of the junk r32's
